When I turn on my computer, I get an error page that says...Could not locate a valid definitions file. Please go to the Program Options Page and click "Update Definitions" to download a definitions file. Also, my Webroot Spy Sweeper is atuomatically scheduled to sweep every week. It would not sweep on the last scheduled date. I tried to do a manual sweep, but it would not sweep. Also states 4 critical shields are off. I'm fairly new to the computer world, I'm also a grandma. Not that computer savy. No one I've spoke to knows what I can do.

Your solution was helpful. but I decided to email Webroot about the problem since it was their program. They also said to uninstall then reinstall but not to use the disk. They gave me a new site to download and a new keycode. So far, everything seems to be working OK. Thanks for all your help.

Turning on computer get "Could not validate definitions file go to program options page and click update definitions to download definitions file, and can't manually run a sweep. Also says 4 critical shields off. To correct turned on all shields, didn't make a difference still says 4 critical shields off.
Turn on computer and an error pops up.It says the connection to the Spy Sweeper engine has been lost or turminated.Spy Sweeper will now close and restart computer. Then I press OK.And an error pops up saying an error occurred in the appliction. Also my D drive is cloed.
I received the message "could not locate a valid definitions file. Please go to the Program Options Page and click "Update Definitions" to download a definitions file.
Not knowing what that was and having read some of the solutions on these pages I downloaded Spy Sweeper. I did get the down load and installed it, but I am still getting the same message and no sweeps by Spy Sweeper.
Everytime II turn my laptop on I get the following error message:
