Hello
Set the brightness, contrast and colour control of that TV to minimum. Watch it in a dark room whether ther are thin white lines across the screen, at about an inch apart, from bottom to top of the screen. If there are lines, that TV needs screen control adjustments. That is, now the screen voltage given to the picture tube went high to some reasons. If you have confidence that you can adjust it, I will guide you.
Open the back cover of that TV. Locate the LOT [Line output Transformer], usually one red thick wire is connected to the top of the picture tube with the help of a rubber ****** and clip. In most TVs it can be located and can be seen as the back cover opened. There are two variable control, fitted, integrated to LOT. Normally the upper one is marked as focus, and the lower one is marked as screen. You shoud adjust this control to avoid these lines.
It is a live service, that is the TV must be switched on during this time, and take causion in every respect not hurt by yoursef and the TV. Keep the children away from you, and an other adult person beside you is better. A liitle turn counterclockwise will remove this problem.

Thanks. I have not seen any other lines on the screen. Wondered if the unit could be reset. She said she pushed a lot of buttons...I'm not sure of the original problem....have no idea which buttons she pushed.

    Hello
LOT can't be accessed without opening the back cover of the tv. I thinks she is an electronic equpment mechanic. There is no button in it to push. It has ony two rotary variable resistors, look like milled shafts. It must be rotated clokwise or counterclokwise for correction of screen and focus.

SANYO TV Picture

I just bought a new Sanyo DP19649 and we can watch it for about 15 minutes then the screen goes black but the sou nd stays on. We have to turn it off and turn it back on to get the picture back for another 15 minutes-then it's the same thing all over again. The sleep mode is off and it isn't on automatic shutoff.

SanyoTV-blk screen w/thin line of light across screen great sound

Your Vertical Amp is probably Blown (bad) , but before you change that check all capacitors around the vertical amp IC and / or resolder resistors and diodes around vertical amplifier.
And NO it is NOT the Picture Tube
Good Luck

Sanyo tv ds20930

Does your screen light up or picture comes before it turns off? This could be from your X-ray protection feature, you will have to check the power supply output voltages.

DS20930 TV

Sanyo makes a fine TV. You have a problem in the vertical circuit causing the line. You should not play the set in that condition because you can dammage the picture tube. Call a few local shops to get an idea of what they charge to fix a vertical problem on a 20" TV. If the cost of repair exceeds about 65% of replacement, toss it. In my opinion the newer sets are lacking in quality compared to older ones. In short , they break more often. If you choose to buy a new TV stay with a known Japanese brand.

Tv not working

this symptom, sometimes called the tube light effect, it is characterised by a bright thin horizontal line across the middle of the screen. this symptom is caused by a breakdown in the vertical deflection circuit. hence maybe the trouble maybe in the vertical oscillator, amplifier or output circuits. but if all i have said is not clear to you, better bring it to a qualified tv technician. good luck!
