In older connex 3300's you cannot disable the talk back. Its part of the audio chain. If you disable the talk back you will loose your audio. There are 2 things you can do.

Hook a relay to the speaker so that when the radio key's id disconnects the speaker. (Big pain, not worth the trouble.)

The other will not disable the talk back but it will stop any squealing.

Use a noise canceling mic. An RK-56 will work great. You will get no squealing with that mic.

I want my talk back louder on my connex 3300hp

  • Under the top cover of the radio is the solder side and a 440 Kilo Ohm resistor (See Pic)

  • More resistance will quite the talk back. Less resistance will make it louder. You will need to experiment a bit to find the level that suits you. I would start with a 200 Kilo Ohm.
  • This is for the more common Connex with the knob that has an adjustment for echo/talkback. If you have the other on then say so and I will direct you for that one.

  • If you have any comments please feel free to leave them here.
  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

My connex 3300 wont transmit anymore and the talk back wont work either,i have tried a different mike and when you key it up the meter still won't swing.

Plug in an external speaker to the pa jack ... Switch the band selector to pa and see if you hear yourself... No? Bad audio chip

I have to turn the volume wide open on my connex 3300 hpzx to be able to hear it . It recieves great but the volume is not load and i even tryed an extenal speaker on it

The RX wire could be broke in the mic cord. You will still get receive when you have the talk back is on, but it will be low. Try another mic.

How do u make the talkbalk louder on a connex 3300hp

There are problems with having a loud talk back. You can get feed back and an annoying squeal when you transmit. That is why the talk back isn't that loud to begin with.

The reason you use talk back is to check your echo, and make sure your mic gain is not too high. It shouldn't need to be that loud to check it.

I highly recommend you leave it at the level that it is.

Connex 3300 radio

If their isn't a switch you will have to go into it and disconnect it. I would recommend having a professional do this. It is very miticulous.
