I can't install the router from the CD to my computer, I follow the steps, but when it says please wait reconizeing your router, it want reconize it says check the ethernet conections.

You don't need to install a wireless router. unplug your modem, connect the ethernet cable from your modem to the port on your router labeled internet or WAN, and then plug in the modem and router. Connect your computer to the network and you should be online.

I need to secure my linksys router, please advise. Linksys WRT160N

Is there any computer connected to the router ?
If not then you will need to connect the computer to the router.
Do not change any wireless settings on the router with the wireless computer.
you will need to connect the computer to the router with the Ethernet cable.
check the IP address of the computer.
open the router set up page of the router.
Here you can change the wireless settings of the router.
Now once you change the network anme and security on the router, you will need to connect to the wireless network on your wireless computers.

I'm looking for my security key on the back of my router.

Connect an Ethernet cable from the network-port on your computer to one of the LAN ports on the router.
Then, you can access the web-server "inside" the router, and run the "Wireless Networking Setup Wizard", to let you choose an SSID (your "network-name") and choose an encryption-level (choose 'WPA') and choose a password/pass-phrase, which will become the "security-key" for your network.

Router quite working. Wireless does not work nor

Follow this procedure :
  1. Turn off all components on your network - computer, router, modem, printers and any wifi laptops
  2. With the ethernet cable connected only between the modem and the router TURN THE POWER TO THE ROUTER ON and let it boot up.
  3. Turn on the modem and let it boot up to all lights on.
  4. Connect / boot up any and all other components on your network.
Keep this order handy in case of a power outage. Best of successes!

I have linksys wireless-G 2.4Ghz broadband router connected to a pc. My wife bought a MAC and wants to get rid of the PC. Is the router compatible with a MAC? If so how do I download the software to set it...

Hi! Absolutely, the Router is OS independent. All you need is a computer with a properly configured Ethernet LAN adapter and a web browser to configure the Router. Any platform that supports Ethernet & TCP/IP is compatible with the router. You may need to provide additional hardware & software (i.e. Ethernet cards and/or software drivers) to ensure that all clients operate with the router.

By default of your mac computer it has already a buil-in LAN port same as your pc and it should be properly configured. just connect the cable from the mac lan port and the other end goes to your port 1 to 4 of the linksys router and it should give you an internet connection. if there is no internet access, pls check the ff:
1. Go to system preferences, network
2. It will pop up the network window
3. location set it to automatic
4. show - set it to built in ethernet
5. once you set it to built in on the lower portion it should set to tcp/ip and the ip address should show, once there is an ip address, you should get an internet connection, sabe or apply the settings
6. you are going to do the same thing if you are going to set the pc on a wireless connection.

if you have any querry pls feel to get in touch..
