How can I find the driver to the DVD-player on a Acer ASPIRE M5800 with a dual-layer DVD burner ?

You shouldn't need a driver it's just generic DVD optical drive. Are you able to read any discs? Is the issue with burning or watching DVD videos?

My dvd drive doesn't work

If it happens for only one particular disk:
Bring that disk to a game store like Gamestop or Rock30 Games and have them professionally clean the disk for a couple bucks.

If it happens for all disks:
Clean the cd/dvd with a laser lens cleaning kit. If that doesn't fix it then the cd/dvd drive will need to be replaced.

Acer aspire 5315 fails to recognise disc when inserted.

The dvd unit has a lens that is used to read the disks - if this lens is dirty or defective the disks aren't recognized. Clean the lens using a cleaning disk that you can buy at every IT shop. If this doesn't help then you must replace the entire dvd unit - you will have to take your Acer to a repair shop.

How do I set acer aspire dvd region to read all dvds?

Click Start
Click Settings
Click Control Panel
Click System
Click Hardware
Click Device Manager
Click the '+' to the left of 'DVD/CD' branch of the hardware tree.
Double-click your DVD device.
Change the region.

Note that you can "change region" only about 5 times, before the DVD will "lock" into a specific region.

Not reading DVD discs

Hello,

has it been reading DVD discs before? Also, does it read other discs apart from DVD's?

It is possible that your DVD drive's lens (laser) is weak. You can try to use a lens cleaner or cutton board to clean the lens.

Take care.
