When I turn my Toshiba A45-S151 laptop on, I first get the screen that shows the Toshiba logo and has the four icons under the logo. Usually the next screen is black, has a cursor in the top left corner, then a bunch of text pops up on the screen followed by the screen with Windows loading up. My problem is that for some reason, when I get to the second screen (the blank one with the cursor in the top left) NOTHING happens. It just remains blank with the cursor blinking. The fan turns on, but nothing else except for the blank screen. Unfortunately, my cd/dvd drive isn't working anymore either, but this happened months before I started having this problem, so I'm not sure if the two problems are interconnected.

Hi! As far as I know, you could use free program or paid software to recover an Admin password. Free one not only wasting you a lot of time, but also losing data sometimes. Paid one will be more safe and stable. I suggested this software: Windows Password Reset 9.0

That blinking cursor is the way in which the BIOS is telling you that Windows is not loading because its most critical, core files have been corrupted beyond repair. The only thing you can do is to reinstall using the recovery cd or your own Windows install disk.

Laptop powers on but goes to a blank screen and stays there

Your problem could be a backlight problem, it is caused by either a faulty inverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. Please click on this link and follow my instruction to determine the fault and possible fix :-

Fan noisey and cmt getting hot on my toshiba a45

Replacing the fan may not be for the faint of heart. Alternatively, buy a can of air & blow the darn thing out. Though not always the best course of action, I sometimes do it with the notebook turned on. This way, I stand a better chance of expelling the gunk than if the fan blades were stationery. Next, I would buy a $15 laptop stand with a usb-pwered cooling fan.

Help Me Please...my Toshiba A45-S151 Screen become garbled, seems like my LCD lost its black color....the screen display blur line,, and has no black colour.... it happens after i dissamsembly my laptop

Check the Wire Harness make sure it is back in the correct place and plugged in all the way into its designated plug. :) also, if that doesnt work then you can replace the LCD. Which is expensive.

Cant find ram chips in a Toshiba Satellite A45-S151

The memory is under the keyboard on this laptop. You should be able to pry up the keyboard with a small screwdriver between the keyboard bezel and the keyboard itself.

Be very careful not to break the wires connecting the keyboard to the internals of the computer.

I hope this helps.

Hi,
The hard drive is located under the laptop (near the front) with "disk" icons on it held down with a screw.
Remove the screw and get a thin flat headed screwdriver and gently pull the hard drive cover off, you may hear a couple of crunches but this is normal as it will be the securing tabs coming away.

Good luck.

BIOS Access

try pressing the delete button when the bios shows on screen. if that is not the button, try pressing F2. If you are not seeing the post screen (the one that tells you what button to press) press the TAB key when you turn it on and a picture comes up telling you "toshiba something something"

The brightness level

You need to use the Toshiba "Power Saver" console. Go to Control Panel -> TOSHIBA power saver. Click the Icon and use the console to adjust the brightness for the various power schemes. If you don't see the TOSHIBA power saver icon, go to Go to Control Panel ->Power Options and open that console. Select "TOSHIBA Power Saver" option in the "Power schemes" dialog box. If you don't have that option in the dialog box, you need to go to the Toshiba site and download the Power Saver installation file and reinstall it.
