Sony Handycam DCR-TRV250E Digital Camcorder Logo

Black and white blurry picture in record mode.

My Sony Handycam DCR-TRV250E shows a b/w blurry picture in record mode.By zooming in ,the picture breaks up and only streaks are displayed.
The play back function works perfectly.
Is this caused by a faulty CCD or is it further down the signal path.

Any ideas are appreciated.

Can I use Hi8/Digital8 NTSC tapes in my DCR_TRV250E?If so would I be able to playback recorded tapes on the UK televisions?.

DCR-TRV250E is a PAL version camera of the Digital8 format.
Yes you can use Hi8/Digital8 NTSC tapes. The camera will record a PAL digital picture on the tapes which means that you can play back the tapes in PAL and therefore you will be able to playback recorded tapes on UK televisions because they are also of the PAL format.

No picture on viewfinder or LCD when trying to record or playback, but the info is there, ie tape time, battery power, zoom ect. Would this be a setting or hardware prob. thanks
