I have not used my zune for a few months now but need to use an mp3 player so i am trying to use it again. When i plug it in to my computer using the usb cord the little battery charging sign comes up then fades away. Its been on the charger for a while and keeps doing the same thing but wont turn on. What do you think the problem is?

No probley not it needs a new battery more than likely they can be bought for around $25.00 or so no fun to put in very delicate.

the battery is not retaining any power. the only reason it works while it is plugged in is because there is power go directly to the battery

Try rebooting the computer, starting the Zune software and plugging it in again. If this doesn't fix the problem, try uninstalling/reinstalling Zune software, then reboot the computer and plug it in again. If it still doesn't work, then the computer will have to be restored to an earlier date where the pc recognized the zune.

You might need to reinstall the drivers, or update your USB port drivers.

Press up and the back button at the same time for about ten seconds. This should reset your zune.

the zune does this if the battery doesn't work (needs a charged battery to power on). battery is either defective or disconnected. there is a zune repair guide that shows you how to fix it

Hi I can help you this is how. BUY A 4G ZUNE!!!!! cause your 30g zune is broken or something, or reset everything and instal it again

Uninstall all zune software and download and install it again. Possibly a bad download.

Or run error check on your computer then try it again.

Go to my computer, right-click on C: - go to properties- then go to TOOLS tab. Click on Error check - make sure you have both boxe(s) checked to fix errors as they are found then hit start. You will have to restart your computer for this check to happen. Usually takes a a few hours, but recommended to do at least once every few months.

Have you tried using another cable? the cable may be fried...

or a different computer to see if it just doesn't like your computer.

Try resetting the Zune by holding the up and back keys until it restarts (probably about 10 seconds) and then try to plug it into the computer again.
