Hello
There are few models of Sony telivisions which uses transistors in vertical output section. It will be a matched pair of PNP and NPN transistors. According to Sony schematic which I have with me used 2SB6494(PNP) AND 2SD669A(NPN) as vertical outputs and 2SC2383 as vertical drive, 2SC1364 as vertical oscillator. Just try to get the orginal numbers or find its equivalents from data book. Ok.

Tv horezantal transister hot

Check for any short circuit at the horizontal output section circuit. Check all the non-electrolytic capacitors used there. Replace all suspected ones with same capacitance value. A winding short in the windings of deflection yoke, will too make the horizontal output transistor to get overheated. If so, there is no other way than replace the deflection yoke. If you wish to get more details, check the site linked here. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

Blank screen but it has sound, when i turn on there is a horizontal line in the center of the screen, before it goes blank but still have sound, i already check all the resistor on both power supply and...

Your fly back, horizontal is in good condition but the possible fault is in the deflection coils or the deflection correction , pin correction section or the hirizontal width coils.
Please check them one by one as they are found along the sides of the flyback sections. check the continuity of the horizontal coils, it can also be a leak/burnt coils that can cause this problem.

What causes the horizontal transistor to short? flybak ok, supply line ok. my tv is a samsung with a model #: ct-21k30mh.

Hello
You just replace the capacitor fitted very near to the horizontal output transistor,[freewheeling capacitor], there may be one or two of them, whcih comes to a value of 3900pf to 6700pf 2000V or so. It is connected to the negative rail and the collector of the horizontal output transitor. If it gets opened, or its value gets reduced, this fault will occur. If so the transistor you replace will get shorted as you swich on the power to TV.
The second one is deflection yoke short. If so the transistor said above will overheat within seconds. Even a single winding inside the horizontal deflection yoke shors, it puts a tremendous load to flyback transformer, which in turn effects the transistor.
After replacing the above said capacitor, you do one thing to make sure about whether there is a short inside the yoke or not. It cannot be measured by normal methods. Fore that, unplug the base card from picture tube and place it somewhere near without getting any of its contacts to other parts inside your TV. This time only the EHT chord will be connected to picture tube. Unplug the horizontal yoke connection from main board. Switch on the tv, and wait for some time, say at about 10 seconds, and check whether the transistor gets overheated or not If it does overheats now also, the winding or EHT retifier diodes inside your flyback transformer has some trouble, and it should be replaced with same type and number. If it does not overheats now, the deflection yoke's winding have some short in it. Ok.
NB: Never connect the TV with base card is in postion while deflection yoke connection is isolated. keep it unpluged.

How shrink picture size in AKAI 14" portable TV

Less power output from the internal SMPS; usually 110v, may less. Horizontal output capacitor may leaky. Horizontal output transistor fault may occur. In rare cases deflection yoke assembley fault.
If the picture is stamped size; suspect the power supply. If the picture is less in width, suspect the above said capacitor, and the lenearity coil fitted on the main board.

Tv won't turn on.

You've lost the horizontal deflection circuit. Most likely the horizontal output transistor and high voltage
(flyback) transformer. When this happens this power supply tries to start but shuts down because the Horizontal output transistotr is shorted.

No picture

I disagree with given info, this tv has no horizontal output transistor because it is dlp tv.
3 red light blink means lamp cover is not placed back properly after lamp replacement/ lamp checking. Make sure lamp cover is fixed back in its place securely and tight.

1996 Sony 32" Trinitron - Suddenly lost picture and sound

The most common problem with TV was the failure of the Horizontal Output Transistor, this will also damage 2 transistors in the power supply and a resistor in the power supply also. (From memory): Horizontal Output location # Q501, 2 power supply transistors Locations Q601, Q602, and resistor Location R607. Also solder the Horizontal drive transformer, you can find it by following the circuit board from the base of the Horizontal output. Some models used an IC instead of the 2 transistors in the powersupply, it will have six legs and check like 2 transistors. Good Luck.

Television wont turn on.

try to check first if theres an output voltage in the wall outlet. if there is, you have a completely inoperative (dead) set. this symptom is usually caused by a breakdown in the power supply circuit. in most modern receivers (transistorized and/or IC), it may also be caused by a breakdown in the horizontal deflection circuits (horizontal oscillator, pre-drive or drive circuits). this is because the supply voltages for the tuner, video intermidiate frequency (VIF), video amplifier, sound intermidiate frequency (SIF) and vertical output circuit are usually supplied by the horizontal output circuit. but again, if you are not inclined in this kind of job, better bring it to a qualified tv technician. good luck!

Tv keeps blowing fuse when plugged in

do not put another fuse because there is a shorted in either the power supply circuit or the horizontal deflection circuit. in power supply try to check the rectifier, filter capacitor, or the regulator ic/transistor. in horizontal, try to check the horizontal driver/ output transistor or the flyback transformer. good luck! but if u dont know anything about this much better to bring it to a qualified service technician. good luck!
