I have a Yamaha RX-777 receiver that I can't find infrared remote codes to use in my Universal Remote Control MX-900 remote. Does anyone know what code set I should use? I have found that using the RX-V1105 codes will work another RX-777, but not the one that I have, but I know that the IR pickup works in the receiver, because using the original remote control for the receiver works fine, but does not offer discrete input commands.

Yamaha rx-v2500 receiver, try the auto programming feature on your remote to set up universal remote. It is possible the remote may not support your equipment and you will have to replace with compatible remote. Check the attached links,instruction and guides, Good luck

1= reset the code again download from www.fitness.manualsonline.com
2= retight the spring contacts batteries with pliers for better contacts
3= clean the contacts batteries.
4= open the r.control for clean the keypad switchs, from dirty, corrosion or oxide. remember they send infrared signal to the receiver microcontroller.
5= if the problem persist you must go to the repair shop TV for fix it.or replace.

thats no surprise. even though they say that the remotes that come with receivers are universal, usually they will only control a very limited device list. good luck

Try any older Sony DVD player code like the DVP-CX995. Sony has had the same basic codes for years. You will be missing blue, green, yellow, and red buttons since they are not available on the remote.
For a true one button solution check out the MX-900.

The URC database should have codes for that unit. The software for programming the MX-900 has it. Which remote are you trying to program?

(I have the RX-V659). Because the Yamaha remote has TWO SEPARATE buttons - power ON and power OFF (standby). This problem can't be fixed. There's a code to choose power ON and another code for power OFF. But one button can't be two buttons. Bad engineering\ design by Yamaha in my opinion
