X Sustain Board on Sony FWD50PX1

Did it work with the Y-sustain board replaced? Likely if it did not work then there is an issue with the capacitors on the Y-sustain board and the power board. Check these caps for failure and replace them with the exact type. Likely the caps are blown and cause voltage loss in one or both boards.

Sounds like the sustain board is damaged. Replace it as as card basis.

Plasma display suddenly dimming down is usually symptom of a faulty sustain board. Sustain boards and other parts like the PSU must be tested before replacing any component.

Problem is in either power supply or the Y-Sustain board.
but the Y sustain board is mostly likely to be the cause.
The Y-Sustain is a relatively large board out of which go connections to the side of the display; it's therefore closer to either the left or the right side of the display, has at least one rather large heat sink on it and fat power cables connecting it to the main power supply.

Often there are fuses on that board - one or more. Check those.

if they are blown you can try to replace them, but expect them to blow again - usually the whole board needs to be replaced.

Most likely a fault on your Y-Sustain board & possibly the buffer board (one of the drive IC's may have blown). These boards can cost up to £100. The Y-Sustain board is not too difficult to replace but the buffer board can be tricky to reconnect the flat ribbon connectors. There is some dismantling of other parts to gain access to remove the sustain board.

I had this problem with a different brand plasma and it turned out to be cracked or missing solder on the power board lead to y sustain. I removed the power board, desoldered the connection, clean it up and then resoldered the connection. Everything works great now.

The y sustain board and the z sustain board and control board have to be replaced.

Your problem maybe your X board which is the same as PCB X sustain. Changing the fuse in this case may NOT solved your problem. If you are handy, you may be able to change the board yourself.
