Thing that ticks me off, it won't even SCAN without that yellow tank. Should've kept that SCSI
scanner from WAY back when, at least it WORKED!

I've got the same problem, and have had the same or similar problems with Canon, HP, Epson.
So WHO do you get a printer from? BEST PICTURE, EPSON, no question. BEST OVERALL,
CANON, NO QUESTION. BEST... ehhh.... Brother, while it lasts. Next to last choice? Lexmark.
VERY LAST CHOICE ON THE CHEAPY MARKET IS... NO QUESTION! HP!!!!

If you're looking the OTHER end of the market, the TOP end, picture quality is STILL EPSON. Again,
the BEST OVERALL is CANON! Do it all on a budget is still the Brother. HP is THERE, it does NOT
do what the name says, OFFICEjet does NOT mean it works well for even a SMALL OFFICE. If you
think terminal services, don't, because it won't.

You want power and versatility, ANYTHING other than HP in the COLOR LASER line is usually just
fine. The only other exception to that is undoubtedly the cheapy Mikita line of color lasers. Makes
HP look like a KING. If ANYTHING OTHER THAN the "HP" is usually ok, and that POS makes the
HP look JUST like a crowned king, Mikita's got a golden boy turned to lead. The WORST software
I've ever had to deal with is HP, top to bottom, it just SUCKS! At least their hardware IS fairly stable
and reliable, at least as reliable as any other hardware. Mikita, GREAT COLOR LASER PRINTS!
When you can get it to print, When it WORKS, IF it recognizes the network, EXTREMELY user
UN-FRIENDLY!

If you're looking for that upper mark, and hence the Epson, just make sure you use it at LEAST on
a WEEKLY basis. If not, you've got a dead printer in about 2 months. 3 on the outside.

If you are using a remanufactured ink tank, try one from the OEM. Sometimes that helps.

WHILE TEST PRINT CYAN INK NOT SHOWING WHAT SHOULD I DO SIR

This issue will only occur if an ink cartridge(s) is or was installed inthe wrong position (slot) in the machine. When a cartridge is installed, the ink tube system is filled with the ink from the cartridges, to prepare the machine for printing. If the cartridge is inthe wrong position the tube will fill with the wrong color.

NOTE: If you just installed or replaced the ink cartridges and your printed documents are missing colors please refer to the solution - I just installed or replaced my ink cartridge and my printed documents aremissing colors. What can I do? Blank

To resolve this issue you will need to clean the print head.

NOTE: It may require 10 to 15 cleanings to clean the ink tubes and print head. During the cleaning process, the ink in the cartridge(s) will be consumed. Additional ink cartridges may be required to completethe cleaning process.

1. First verify the position of the ink cartridges:

a. Open the ink cartridge cover and check to make sure the ink cartridges are in the correct order.

b. Starting from the left side, the correct order is Black, Yellow, Cyan(blue), and Magenta (red).

- If the ink cartridges are installed in the correct order, close the ink cartridge cover and continue to STEP 2.

- If the ink cartridges are not in the correct order, remove the ink cartridges that are installed in the wrong position by pressing down on the release lever(s), located above the ink cartridge and remove the cartridge(s) from the machine.

Next, reinstall the ink cartridge(s) in the correct position in the machine by gently pushing the cartridge in until it clicks.

When all the cartridges are installed, close the ink cartridge cover.

2. After closing the ink cartridge cover, the LCD will prompt - Did youchange XXXX (XXXX = the color) This message will be displayed for ink cartridge that was removed. Press the - (Minus Key for No). This willkeep accurate data of how much ink is left in the cartridge.

1. Press the INK key.

2. Press OK to select Test Print.

3. Press OK to select Print Quality.

4. Press the COLOR START key.

5. Review the Check Sheet. The colors on the Check Sheet should be in a specific order: Black, yellow, Cyan (Blue) and Magenta (red).

a If the colors on the Check Sheet are in the correct order and are notmissing any dashes, press + (Plus Key for Yes) on the key pad and continue to STEP 7.

b If the colors on the Check Sheet are not in the correct order, are missing dashes or blank or a color other than Black, Yellow, Cyan or Magenta printed press - (Minus Key for No) on the key panel and continueto STEP 6.

6. The machine will need to perform cleanings to flush out the incorrectcolor or dried ink from the ink tubes and print head.

a. The LCD will ask you BLACK OK. If black is fully printed and is the correct color, press + (Plus Key for Yes). If it#s blank, missing dashes or is the incorrect color, press - (Minus Key for No).

b. The LCD will ask you COLOR OK. If any of the 3 colors (yellow, cyan (blue), and magenta (red) are fully printed and are the correct color, press + (Plus Key for Yes). If it#s blank, missing dashes or is the incorrect color, press - (Minus Key for No).

c. The LCD will say START CLEANING + for YES and - for NO. Press + for YES to start cleaning. The machine will go through a cleaning cycle that will take approximately one to two minutes.

d. After the cleaning is completed, the LCD will say PRESS START. Pressthe BLACK START key. This will print out the print quality check sheet again for you to check and see if your print quality issue has been resolved or not

NOTE: If you wait 1 minute after the cleaning cycle is completed, the display will return to date and time. You will need to go back to STEP 3 to print the Print Quality Check Sheet again.

e. If the ink color order is correct and all of the dashes are present, press + on the key pad to select YES and continue to STEP 7.

If the colors on the Check Sheet are not in the correct order, are missing dashes or blank or a color other than Black, Yellow, Cyan or Magenta printed press - key to select NO. Repeat the cleaning process byfollowing STEPS 6a through 6d. You may have to perform this procedure up to 15 times in order to clean the ink tubes and print head

NOTE: During the cleaning process, the ink in the cartridge(s) will be consumed. Additional ink cartridges may be required to complete the cleaning process.

7. Test by printing the document that had the reported problem (wrong color printing).

Yellow ink will not print

On the Brother MFC series printers it uses remote ink trays as you will know, instead of having print heads directly on the ink cartridge. Whilst this approach makes it cheaper to produce the ink, and easier to change the cartridge, it can make it difficult to clear clogs.

There are several things you can do which may help, but B. and C. are at your own risk. All steps assume you have a new yellow ink cartridge.

A. In paint or another program, create a full page yellow image and keep printing it out. See if it gets any better after each print. If it does, continue until it seems to be working fine.

B. If you can manage to get to the print head, you can get a cue tip, dip it in rubbing alcohol and gently clean the print head. Leave 20 minutes to dry, and then do step A. again.

C. (AS A VERY LAST RESORT AT YOUR OWN RISK. THIS IS GOING TO RUIN YOUR YELLOW INK CARTRIDGE SO USE AN OLD YELLOW ONE IF YOU CAN) If steps A. and B. fail, you can put a "little" rubbing alcohol in the Yellow Ink Cartridge, and keep trying step A. If Yellow starts printing again, swap to a yellow cartridge that does not have rubbing alcohol in it. You are now going to have to cycle through many pages to clear the rubbing alcohol from the ink lines.

Note that if you keep cleaning the cartridges, it is going to use a lot of ink, and may actually hinder solving your yellow ink problem.

HP will not recognise new cartridge

The problem you are describing with the yellow cartridge sounds like ink starvation possibly due to a clogged print head or an air bubble in the print head. Since the machine is so new I would contact HP to get the print head replaced. As for the magenta cartridge, exchanging it for a new one at the store you bought it from should fix the problem. It sounds like the chip on the one you have is either damaged or wasn't set to read full ink levels.

Yellow color

What you can try is the following procedure:
1# Install new carts and make sure that they are really well placed (the procedure will consume a lot of ink)
2# press menu then start mono (blue copy button) then 4 times arrow up (tel index). Machine will be in maintenance mode.

press 7 then 6 then 4: display will show init_all
press start mono
machine will refill the tubes and the printhead with fresh ink and do some cleaning.
When maintenance is shown again press 0 (zero) then 9 when you are OUTSIDE US/CAN. Machine will print a test print.
If you are from US/CAN you have to leave the maintanence mode by pressing 9 then 9. Press ink etc. to do the test print job.

Do only one cleaning cycle in case you see some of the yellow blocks.
In case you still have trouble with seeing any yellow, the yellow ink channel or the print head is rotten and cant be fixed anymore.
