Same here. (I have the Mini Plus B31) Called Keurig and these are the steps they walked me through. Not sure which part actually fixed the problem, but it worked.

1. Turn off machine. Using a paperclip clean out the holes in the needles (3 in the top, one in the bottom of the k-cup holder).

2. If water is inside the heating core (assuming it is as nothing happened when you tried to brew), with the machine turned off, press and hold the brew button. After 5 seconds the pump will kick on and discharge the water. Make sure you have a cup in place to catch the water.

3. Dispose of that water.

4. Unplug the machine.

5. Wait 5 seconds.

6. Plug machine back in.

7. Turn on.

8. Run empty cycle without a k-cup and only use the minimum amount of water (6 oz).

9. Dispose of that water after it brews (hopefully).
If still nothing is happening, call Keurig.

10. Brew your coffee, tea, choco, etc.

Note: was told by Keurig rep that whenever you use hot chocolate, to run an empty rinse cycle afterwards before brewing another cup. This will help prevent any choco from going up inside the machine and possibily blocking the water flow.

Hope it works! Mine did after following these instructions. The rep also wanted me to measure the amount of water that came out afterwards. Not sure what the next step would be because my call got dropped, but the machine works. Sipping on a cup now...

I have had 3 of these. I love the coffee when it works. Just got a 3rd one and couldn't get it working at all. Tried your steps and it is working for now. I'lljust keep using it and see.

Brand new out of box just flashes doesn't even heat the water. I have a Britta that I keep in the fridge for my water. What I found out is that the Keurig can't handle really cold water. It wants it closer to room temp. Once I started using warmer water, it worked like a charm.

Thanks for the tip. I too use a brita pitcher in the fridge and have been having problems with my keurig mini. I just tried using one of my brita 20 oz water bottles with the filter inside, used luke warm tap water, and it worked right away. This actually works out better because now I don't have to keep refilling my pitcher. Thanks so much! You saved me from having to return my keurig, which is only a couple weeks old. Will update if any further problems. :)

I was having the same problem with the blinking red "brew" light. After following all the troubleshooting advice, I came to realize that the simple problem was that keurig machines don't like cold water from the fridge. As soon as I replaced it with room temperature water, the blinking stopped after a minute and began brewing....makes sense-too much work for the Keurig to heat up ice cold water in such a short amount of time. Hope this helps!

Thank you for this article! I had checked various sites that offered little to no help in getting this issue fixed. My coworkers will once again be safe now that we can get our coffee fix.

Saeco coffee machine with a red blinking exclamation point light won't make coffee, how do I fix it?

When the red exclamation point is flashing slow, something is not where it is supposed to be, bean hopper lid, door, brew mech, water tank empty, dregs box or water tray on dregs container is full. If the red exclamation point is flashing quickly, open the steam valve for pump priming. If pump turns on, and water passes correctly, the light should go off and return to heating stage. If not, we have a blockage or a pump that is not working correctly.

Is my Keurig the one that was recalled?

Hey Rudy,

I'm not sure which particular model Keuirg you have, but i was able to find details on the Keurig models that have been recalled. The units that were recalled were the Mini Plus Brewing Systems, with model number K10. The brewers have an identification number starting with "31" printed on the bottom. They were sold online and in stores in the U.S. and Canada between 2009 and 2014.

Our brand new keurig mini plus wont heat or dispense water

I had the same problem with my Mini ! I also had this problem with my last Mini which was given to me and I tossed out. So I replaced with the new one which just went on the fritz. Called Keurig who were very helpful and told me to descale, but I explained the machine is almost new. So I prodded them for what else could cause the problem and its water that is too cold.

Turns out the problem is that I was using very cold water and the machine can sense the water is cold and will not heat. It does not heat so it wont damage the heating element. I was using 40 degree water from the fridge.

My symptoms were: I would fill it, that the blue light would flash, I would push the button, then the red light would flash and then nothing it would shut off after a while. Now with not so freezing water it works fine!

Hope this helps as I threw out a good machine because the water was too cold!

I have a new B31 mini plus keurig brewer and I put the water/coffee in, hit the brew button, it flashes red then turns off after about 2 minutes without brewing the coffee.

MODEL B31: I made the mistake of not running water thru the machine first (the Initial cleaning) and was unable to get water to come thru to the K-cup. Reservoir was hot and full and would not come out. SOLUTION: I took a bendy-straw and completely covered the inside needle coming from the top (that goes into the K-cup) and pushed it up with a fair amount of pressure and blew hard into the straw. Then sucked on the straw (BE CAREFUL IF THE WATER IS HOT) and water and some coffee grounds came out. The brewer worked perfectly after this!!
