My dishwasher starts as usual by pumping the remaining water away. Than it starts taking in clean water ... and stops. The arms don't start to turn and the machine just remains blocked. No beeping or anything, just silence. Can I adjust this myslef? Evert from Bologna in Italy

This is the wash motor not running. You will need a engineer to fix this for you.

My dishwasher doesn't clean very well and has recently stopped drying. Is it worth it to fix?

Poor cleaning is usually due to bad water circulation, bad dish distribution, and bad habits. Spray arms get clogged easily, pump intakes get clogged and so on. To clean it take all the spray arms off and make sure they are really clean, same for the pump intake screen. The dryer element is usually what goes on them and its fairly easy to replace. Also remember a dishwasher is NOT a food disposal. If you want dishes to come out clean you need to put them in clean!

Dishwasher stopped in the draining cycle and will not start back up, even after turning thye daqil to start a wash

Hi
Dishwasher not draining issue usually occurs due to kinked drain pipe, clogged drain filter or drain pump. First make sure that the drain is not clogged and remove clogs if present. If no visible lint is present then remove the lower front access panel to check the drain filter and drain pump for any clogs, you'll need to clean the drain filter and drain pump completely. Also, check for any food pieces stuck near the pump impeller & clean the chopper assembly. Please note that dishwashers don't drain out the complete water such that heating element doesn't overheat. Hope this helps... Please post back for any further assistance.

Gritty film left on almost all dishes, rinse aid level seems to always remain at full, but apparently not rinsing well.

The problem is hard water. There is a new product out called the dishwasher filtration system. It filters the water before it enters your dishwasher. It works amazing and has a money back guarantee. You will love the way your dishes look after the first load. It is also very affordable (like 70 bucks). Go to www.dishwasherfilter.com to find out more info.

LG LDS5811WW Low pressure out of spray arms

On the LG LDF xxxx dishwasher family, the Vario feature uses a motor/check valve to switch between "full power" cleaning from _either_ the lower or the upper spray arms, never at the same time. So, not seeing the upper arm spin during the lower arm spinning is standard operating procedure.

But back to your problem. Step one would be to remove the filter assembly again and make certain that there is nothing (debris, broken glass) blocking the white areas where the check valve rotates to switch between upper/lower spray arms. A blockage there ~could~ cause impotent spraying/cleaning.

If there is no blockage and the impeller remains in good shape, suspect a failing wash pump motor. Try to isolate the noise to that motor.

Watch for error codes on the display and report back what you find, OK?

Good Luck!

Dryer stops and won't start again

hi
Step 1: Remove the cap that holds the sprayer arm on.

Step 2: Remove the sprayer arm, the screen, the pump housing, a bolt, the upper impeller, the food disposer blade, a spacer plate, the impeller hood, a flat plate, an O-ring, and the lower impeller. Lay the parts out in order as you disassemble them so that you'll be able to reassemble them properly.

Step 3: Clean the parts thoroughly with a mild detergent solution. If any parts are worn, replace them with new ones made for the dishwasher.

Step 4: Replace any seals, such as the O-ring or other washers, with new ones.

Step 5: Reassemble the pump, keeping the parts in order.

To reach the water pump, remove the sprayer arm and screen and then the pump housing. Remove the bolt, and the pump components can be disassembled.

On some dishwashers, the lower impeller serves as a drain pump. This type of system usually has a reversible motor; machines with nonreversible motors have drain valves, as detailed previously. If your machine possesses this impeller pump system, and the water will not drain from the dishwasher, clean the lower pump impeller. This may solve the problem. Otherwise, call a professional service person.

Dishwasher not washing very well

usual reason is that the arms are not rotating freely - they only turn by water jetting out of angled jets. blockages are not always obvious as blockage material tends to go out of sight when water pressure off. favourite culprits are rice and sweet corn

the motor stops and runs in the opposite direction to pump water up to the top rack. you first need to listen for the motor to stop and start. if you hear that open the door and try to tell if water was coming out of the top spray arm.
