F_morales41, before you installed the new Harddrive, did you,

1) Install the Operating System disk?

2) Install a fresh (New) genuine copy of Windows?

The Harddrive has your Operating System on it. (Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 are examples of an O/S)

You can't just put a new Harddrive in. It is blank.
This is why you can't remove the Harddrive, and expect the laptop to work, also.

Put the new HDD in, power up the laptop, install the Operating System CD disk in the optical drive, (CD/DVD drive)
After the Operating System has been installed, (Software completely loaded), put the Drivers and Utility's disk in. Load it.

Do you have the new Harddrive in? Put the Operating Disk (CD) in the optical drive. Load the software. Then put the Drivers and Utilities Disk in. Tell me what happens.
Thanks for the rating! Most appreciated!

Two beeps usually means the memory module went bad.
Replace it and you should be ok

Its a common issue for DELL Laptops usually if the battery and charger are working fine the culprit is the motherboard. If its still under warranty have them replace the motherboard and it will be good as new. Thanks

Dell XPS M1530

On your laptop, press and hold the <Fn> key while powering the system on. This will initiate a diagnostic routine to check your hardware. Since this is a new purchase, call Dell about this issue and relay results of diagnostics, even if no errors are detected and diags pass.
