How to remove Platter on JVC L-A120 Turntable

Hi Jeff...
The platter on the JVC LA-10 does not come off as most turntable platters do. It is attached to the spindle with a Philips head screw.

Here are the steps:
Remove dust cover from turntable. Unscrew hinges and lift.

  • Turn the turntable on its side and remove screws that hold the top to its base. Remove platter by unscrewing the bottom plate from the turntable. The spindle bearing is held in place with a Philips head screw. Loosen it and the platter will separate easily from the spindle.

  • Loop replacement band around the pulley cylinder in the motor. Replace platter and bottom plate. Tighten spindle screw. Test the new belt by turning the platter clockwise two or three rotations. Belt should fit snugly and turn with little resistance.

Power is on, turntable won't turn

Hi, sounds like the belt was not refitted when the motor was replaced.
To replace drive belt on a Crosley turntable.
    1. Remove the cir-clip holding the platter in place from the base of the centre spindle.
    2. Lift the platter off. You may need to use a flat blade or some similar tool to get under the platter in order to lift it up.
    3. NA.
    4. Place the belt around the platter pulley making sure it is sitting flat without any twists.
    5. Flip platter over the right way up
    6. You will see 3 rubber grommets in the platter surface. Remove 1. Through the hole insert a belt hook, crochet hook, kebab skewer, knitting needle type tool and slip it
between the platter pulley and belt in readiness to fit over the motor pulley.

I require a drive belt for a NEC P325E turntable. What size and type do I require, and where can I purchase one.

Hi, I will be able to supply aa new drive belt for your turntable. To determine the length remove platter and on the underside is the platter pulley where the belt runs. If you tell me the diameter of the pulley I can work it out from there. Cheers John. [email protected]

Turntable has stoped. The belt has come off but still intact.Where doe's it go. Cheers

The belt goes from the turntable's platter to a rotating cylinder that fits under the platter. There should be a hole in the platter to access this rotating cylinder.

Technics sl 1210 will not start up

did you ever open the turntable. It sounds like the on/off switch is bad. Remove the platter and screws with a phillips screw driver and just make sure the connections are in place. make sure you disconnect the power first. let me know what happens afterwards.
