Some of the e-series has a corrugated filter in the top section. To get to it, remove the clear plastic panels that are the sides. Most have 3 screws on each side to move, then the top half will come loose. There also is filter on the back, there is a door to remove to get to it.

Changing the filter in Rainbow e series
Posted by bigdaddy808 on Jun 03, 2008
I have a Rainbow e series and need to know how to change the filters. I Have had it 2 yrs.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. The Rainbow E Series vacuum, there are really no filters on this vacuum, the water is the actual filter and you need to clean the separator every time you use the vacuum and then as a rule dry out the vacuum separately, separate the water pan from the vacuum, clean the separator, and as a maintenance tip – place a newspaper or towel on the floor and then once you have replace the separator, then turn on the vacuum on with out the water pan on the vacuum and spin the moisture out of the motor section of the vacuum. This will prolong the life of your Rainbow, a little bit more maintenance but you don’t have to replace the motor as often. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

The Rainbow / RexAir Factory phone number is listed below:

There is a HEPA filter on the e series Rainbow as mentioned by redevil6. It filters the released air after being filtered by water so any small particulate that escapes from the water bath is caught. I've owned and maintained Rainbows for 25 years.

Rainbow filter spraying water just changed filter?

If your Separator is broken, then this will allow water to go up through the motor and out the exhaust. The HEPA Filter Neutralizer 2nd Edition for eSERIES is at the end of the air bath of exhaust so this will be soaked with water. If that does not fix, call us with your Rainbow in front of you for some troubleshooting... Contact Us

What would happen if I would take out both hepa filters from my rainbow e-series? I do need extra super filtering - previous versions didn't have it and it was ok... Hepa filters are not so expensive...

It won't hurt anything if you don't have a problem with the tiny particles that will be blown into the air. The Hepa filters trap small particles that can be unhealthy to breath. Most of these particles consist of human skin and hair, pet dander, dust mites, etc.. Many people are not bothered by these tiny particles. Others, like asthmatics, can have serious complications from them and the Hepa filters really help.

If you dopn't change the hepa filter will motor burn up or explode

No. The HEPA filter is simply to collect fine dust and allergens that make it past the water. Hmm. If it gets full/clogged and isn't changed, then the motor is more likely to burn up from overheating. It's more likely it will shut off if the filter gets full. It will not explode.

MY RAINBOW VACUUM HAS LOST SUCTION POWER AND i DON'T KNOW WHY

Your Rainbow E series has lost suction power, because you need a new hepa filter, ot your water basin gasket is messed up, or the center motor gasket is messed up or out of position.

Make sure your water basin is not cracked or broken, also.

If you have any more questions let me know. I am a Rainbow seller, and a Rainbow expert also.

Thank you,

If it is an earlier model, everything applies, except for the filter. They do not have filters, on any of the earlier models.

How do I change the hepafilter on my Rainbow E series? Thanks [email protected]

You have to remove rear cover (on the opposite side than the intake is) There are 2 kinds of HEPA and 2 kinds of filter covers:

HEPA encased in black plastic - on the bottom of the unit you will see two latches and you can use a flat screw driver release them and filter cover just pops out.

HEPA older style (white filter with black plastic frame) - there are 2 Phillips screws on the bottom of the unit and 2 more under the cord caddy. Use flat screw driver to remove the cord caddy (put it in between the housing and the caddy and it would come off)

If you need filters - they are HERE.

Rainbow E series sounds "whiny" and loud while running

The whinning sound may be the bearings are bad. This will have to be taken care of or it will wear your motor brushes down very quickly. It is not generally caused by the filter, but by not be cleaned properly and may have been stored on its water basin.

Changing the two HEPA filters in the Rainbow E Series.

Plastic thing is fine. it probably has "e" in the middle...
To replace the motor filter you would have to remove cap. You have to get clear plastic lenses off the unit (you will need small flat screwdriver to release latches on the top of the lenses). Under those you will find a total of 4 or 6 screws. They hold the cap onto the main body. Filter is under the cap. See HERE if you need the filter.

Remove suction motor on rainbow vacuum

Take off the water tank, remove the screw, should be four, that will separate the 2 pieces, remove the rubber seal, remove the screws, 8 If I remember, disconnect the wires to the motor, it should pull out. Replace motor, hook up the wires, screw it back together, glue the water seal back on.
