My RCA tv is only 1 year old and the screen only is light black after turning it on. It has volume but no picture and it will play DVD but still not picture.

1. buy the service manual yet?
2. get a real shop TV to fix it?

5. Screen dead make sure LED back lamps have DC power.

8. its not just dead clicker battery is it?
9. this tv uses 167watts of power old is it? 2010 made. 12 years old it is. but is LED back lamp'ed I think.
10. connect DVD deck player via HDMI and put in DVD and push play on deck and hear sound now?????????? hummmmm

14. The TV will indicate any problems with the STANDBY indicator flashing in reD and is a code. does it.
15. the LED driver board bad or power to it is dead. (LED back lamps)
16. and vastly more , any board that kills power DC or data then the screen goes dead.

have the lazer cleaned its dirty go purchase a lazer disc cleaner from any electrical supply store that sells tv,s and dvd players .

sounds like the sceen is dead, if you are receiving nothing on screen, then it sounds like either a component and/or screen is gone... however, check the tv input to make sure it wasnt acidentally switched to an input channel with nothing selected... if that does not work, call local tv repair or mfg customer service tech. if under warranty, have repaired or replaced. without physically seeing tv, it is hard to diagnose issue outside of information given. could be simple board replacement or could be screen.. but check input first, if a dvd player plays, then it could be just component or input on wrong selection

My tv is relatively new, but the bad thing is that I had an old; big screen tube type rca model; home theatre, that was heavier than a car, and it went out, due to the cracking and popping sound, off sometimes, and back on.
What is strange is the new tv now, the hdtv, light weight, about five years old, is doing the same thing. Actually, now, the power will not even come on. The lcd green light in the front goes on and off.
Take no offense, but I thought I would not have these problems anymore. What do you suggest?

check the invertor boards resistors they power the back lights
also check for any capactors that have blown (raised tops) they look little bateries

try turning the channel up or down with the tv remote to input 1 or 2 depending on which one is being used for the dvd player. tv should use input 1. dvd should be on input 2.
when turning the channel set it to show the dvd screen, then go up 1. if it doesn't show, return and go down 1.

Hopefully you have the problem solved.

If not, the RCA plugs, listed as input 1 and 2 are shown on channel 91 and 92.

I recommend connecting the DVD to either input. Turn on the DVD. Then run the auto programming function of the TV. It will find and program the channel for the DVD. Then use the channel up or down on the remote you are currently using and you should find a working DVD.

separate the plug on the other appliance,check if the trouble is dvd or tv by connect other input device like game console or dvd.

1.Check audio/video RCA jack cables
2.check S-video(if you use S-video cables)
3.check with another dvd player to get normal picture on your tv system. if picture is normal in this process. then problem with your old dvd player.
4.if same problem occurs in other dvd player. then problem with your television. external audio/video processing circuits
5.if the tv is ok. then the problem with your old Dvd player audio.video converting circuits
6. if can be rectified by authorised service engineers
7.Contact service engineer. as there is no recitification process from user part
