My Compaq Presario SR1250nx will not turn on. The power chord is attached and power strip is turned on. I've also tested on a stand alone outlet to ensure it wasn't the power chord. A little green light right below the power supply chord plug in on the back of the Computer unit is steady green as soon as the power supply is plugged in and active. However, when I push the power button on the front of the unit, absolutely nothing happens. Normally there is a green light below the power button on the front of the unit that stays on after powering up, but the computer makes no noise, shows no light and no fans go on or anything. It was working a few hours ago and I did a system shutdown and now it won't work.

I'm having the same problem with a Compaq Persario SR2150nx. I changed out the power supply, all the connections are in all the way, and the computer still won't power on. Could it be that the motherboard has died? This computer hasn't been turned on in months. I even cleaned all the dust from the CPU.

Looks like your power supply's failed. The green light on the back of your power supply is just a neon light that just confirms that the power lead is OK, it does not relate to the status of the power supply! Try powering it up with another power supply, or replacing the power supply.

Hi,

It sounds like you have a power supply unit failure, this unit is in the rear of the computer and it may have blown the fuse in it.

Try to hold the power switch on for 5 secs when you plug it in, if the unit still wont switch on then thats what the problem will be.
Hope this helps, let me know if you want more information.

Thanks
Jason

Computer wont boot up

Hello there and weclome to Fixya:
can you tell me if the power supply is even turning on if not double check the power cord to ensure that it is connected in both the computer and the outlet if so if you unplug the cord then press in and hold the power button for at least 20 sec this clears
the esd from the machine now try to plug it in and see if it now works if now you will have to replace the power supply which is really easy but try this first and let me know what happnes ok ?
Best regards Mike

I have a presario SR1250NX and it won't come out

if you are not an technician i'd suggest to take it to the service center.
i think it might be the psu/memory related issue and as an user you are not able to remedy the situation yourself

My sr1250nx won't power up. blinking green light in back right below power cord

generally in dese cases its a HW problem> open up the side panel> disconnect the thickest bunch of power cable on the motherboard(ATX connector) it either has a 20-24 pin connector> then turn on the PC> if the Light at th back is steady> the motherboard has gone bad> if its off> the power supply has gone bad

Cant turn On my Compact presario f700

Assuming you have checked the the power strip or outlet by testing it with another electrical appliance to see if it is in operation, you can test
the power supply to the unit with a tester or oscilloscope. If it still does not work then check the cable that plugs directly into the unit and replace it if necessary. You can also open the unit to check if the cable is attached properly to the motherboard.
