Sometime the needle & thread are not compatable--try this & see if it work for you
Cut 6-8 inch piece of thread of the spool you are going to use for your project
Take the needle you are going to use for the project
& insert the thread thru the eye of the needle
& lift one end of the thread to a 45 degree angle
& if the needle is the right size for the thread it will slide down the thread
But if the needle hangs on the thread you need one size larger needle for the thread

Janome 6500 Sewing Machine. CORRECT TENSION ON 6500 JANOME SEW MACHINE please.

Question edited for clarity.
Please don't type in all CAPS, it is considered SHOUTING and is harder to read.

Sewing machine tension is a delicate tug of war between the bottom Bobbin tension and the Upper tension to put the loop between the 2 layers of fabric. You set the Bobbin tension first and the the top tension depends on the fabric and the thread used.

Your Bobbin tension is very very loose to be not tensioning at all or the top tension is too loose.

My Janome 4052 sews well if the material isn't thick or double knit. The top thread doesn't catch the bobbin thread, or it it does it's only for a few stitches

Could be top thread tension is two low. Be sure stitch is centered between fabric layers. Increase tension if top thread is showing on wrong side.

My brand new Janome Sewist 500 is making noise - it's clunking as I sew. I'm sewing two layers of cotton twill, stitch A, length 2, tension 5. Help!

have you checked to see if the bobbin is in the bobbin case correctly
is it still under warrenty? you might want to take back to the place you bought it from & let them check it

Type of needle for janome mini compact

Hi
Ask Jan on the Janome website.

Or try on the forums there.

I would imagine that Janome universal needles would be fine for this machine.
Thicker needles are required for sewing thicker fabrics.

SIMILAR PROBLEM OF TOP THREAD ACCUMULATING IN BOBBIN AREA

it sounds like a needle threading problem. if you have the instruction book, pull yout needle thread off the machine and re-thread as per the book ie presser foot up and make sure thread goes betwen tension discs and up over takeup lever.

to check needle tension is ok, lower presser foot and pull needle thread through needle, the needle thread should be tight enough to bend the needle a little.

goodluck,

scott.

Janome left needle thread breaking CONSTANTLY

Sounds like a tension problem. Your machine should have two tension adjusters. One for each needle. The book that came with your machine will tell you how. Another possibility is a bent needle.

Winding the bobbin?

Most of the entry level machines will have either a clutch knob or an automatic release when the bobbin winder mechanizm is engaged (put a bobbin on and more the unit to you right). If it does not disengage the clutch automaticly then either loosen the clutch wheel by turing or pulling. Sometines you have to grab the whole clutch wheel to disenage the mechanism to free wheel while winding the bobbin. Now press you foot control to wind the bobbin.
