My sub zero fridge is leaking water. The drain at the bottom of the fridge is blocked and the water overflows and eventually flows out when the door is opened. How can I unclog this drain. This is a problem off and on and I'm wondering if it happens when the fridge door isn't closed all the way? Do I need to defrost?I'd like to be able to fix this myself instead of calling service. I don't how old the fridge is and I don't have any paperwork on it. I estimate that it is probably at least 10 years old.

Use a syringe with clorine bleach to unblock the drain.and check that the door seals are touching all round otherwise you will constantly have a frost problem.

Condensation water build up inside refrigerator

The tray underneath your fridge is probably clogged, and overflowing. There is an evap tray underneath, and if it does not get adequate airflow, it will overflow, and leak out.

Clean the bottom front vents, and underneath the fridge to ensure adequate airflow.

Hi. My Sub Zero 632 is dripping water from the bottom corner of the freezer door. Can you tell me what the problem is and how I might fix this? Thank you so much.

It does appear that your side by side refrigerator has an ice maker, so that rules out any extra water from a faulty valve.
I think the seal on your freezer door may be broken/torn.
Usually there is no water (per se) in the freezer, but as things thaw, or as the door is opened it can create condensation that leaks. The freezer will retain cool for a while but eventually things will thaw out and water will leak.
Please check the thermostat for the freezer, and make sure there are no containers leaking in the fridge portion.
Good luck.

Frigidare Mod.FRS26H5AS Leaking water into bottom of freezer where it freezes then leaks out door

I had the same issue.. I checked this web site and found the solution (on another post).. It was the drain of the fridge being blocked.. I didn't know the existence of such drain.. it turned out that it got blocked with some dust, therefore with every defrost cycle, the water was not going down to the evaporator tray, then going inside the fridge (eventually freezing), then overflowing to the outside doors.. Check on youtube for videos on how to open the fridge and clean this drain.. Have fun..

Samsung Fridge Freezer leaking water

hi August.
Cause: A blocked defrost drain is one of the most common causes of water leakage. This happens when food particles or other debris clogs up the drain hose, which can lead to ice buildup and, eventually, water leaking out of the freezer and refrigerator.
3 common refrigerator problems you can easily fix yourself

The freezer drain hose will drain the defrost water into a drip pan at the bottom of the freezer. When this pan becomes full, it will leak water onto the floor. This is a regular maintenance task whenever the freezer defrosts. Empty the drip pan during the defrost cycle.
How to Fix Water Leaking From the Bottom of Freezer

Why is my fridge leaking water on the floor? If the refrigerator is leaking water it's possible that the refrigerator has a clogged or freezing defrost drain. Sub-Zero 550 water dripping on right side of freezer forming ice on draw

I had a similar issue that started about a year ago with my Sub-Zero 550. My freezer gasket actually tore after several times of freezing closed. I thought that a new gasket would solve it, but a second but related problem developed where I was getting alot of condensation under the left side of the unit, with the water dripping onto the floor...eventually staining the hardwood floor in front of the unit.

I traced the problem to a clogged condensation drain pipe in the refrigerator. It is a corrugated pipe that drains a trough behind the crisper drawers. My pipe was clogged with black sludge and frozen down below. The condensation in the fridge would overflow out of the trough and leak below the crisper drawers, down out through the gasket.

To resolve, I used a piece of solid thin wire folded in half and twisted with a small loop at the end to fish out as much sludge as I could. Then squirted hot water into the pipe until it totally unclogged. I believe this will solve the problem without any need for a heater underneath the unit. The 550 worked fine for 4-5 years before this happened.

Sub-Z 550 reidge internal leak

The tube behind the crisper drawers is not insulated well enough and will repeatedly freeze, leaving the water to drain on your floor. The solution is to thaw the tube and put a piece of copper the length of your tube, into the area below. The wire extending into the area below is just warm enough to keep the tube from freezing.

Cannot open the bottom freezer door anymore; it seems stuck

sounds as though the defrost system has failed or the freezer defrost drain is blocked. take off the back panel of the freezer and see if excess ice build up. if so, defrost carefully with a hairdryer. at bottom is a drain. check if blocked with ice and if so melt off with hot water till water flows away freely. if i'm right, appliance will start to work. if fault re-occure then defrost system is at fault

Ice in Refrigerator Section

there are 2 possibilities. first the drain is blocked causing water to overflow from the defrost water gulley at the bottom rear of the inside of the fridge. this can form ice as it is close to the division between fridge and freezer. second, the .fault of ice growth can be caused by breakdown of the cabinet insulation. of the two, the first is the moree likely. to test drain is cloear, pour a little water down the drain. if it does'nt flow freely, push something flexible down the drain hole till blockage is clear
