Maytag refrigerator My freezer keeps getting ice built up on the floor of the freezer (it's a side by side) and if I don't chip it away it will overflow water onto the floor. I turned the water off to the fridge and it still keeps doing it. I know the water is off to it because water won't come out of the water on the door. Where could the water be coming from? What could be wrong?

It may not be a water problem, it may be an air leak.
If there is something that is keeping the door from total closing, ice will build up from moisture.
check the gasket around the freezer door, or see if there is something that is keeping it from closeing completely.

Hi i have it a maytag admiral side by side and it keeps dumping water on floor from front can you suggest anything

Check the freezer floor to see if there is a sheet of ice built up on it. If so you have a clogged drain further back and water is overflowing instead of going down the drain when it goes into defrost. Remove the bottom bin, clear the ice and further back clear the ice from the drain hole using hot water or a screw driver, but be careful if you do that. Once water flows freely down the hole your problem is fixed. If there is no ice in the freezer floor check the waterline that runs to the dispenser which is also located on the front left side if your facing the machine. You'll have to pull the kick plate of do so, but if thats the problem you'll notice water every time you get water from the door.

Sounds like you have a frozen drain line. I would unplug the unit at let the drain line thaw. This would be the easiest way to rectify the issue. Leave both doors open for 24 hrs. Hope this helps _MJ_

My Maytag side-by-side refrigerator/freezer Leak

There is a pan and drain hose under the freezer coil that is there to catch any water when the freezer goes into defrost. I feel strongly that is where you will find your leak.
I hope this helps.

Maytag Side By Side Problem

Check and make sure the drain pan under the refrigerator is in position and the drain hose is in the pan. If it misses the pan it will put water on the floor.

Bottom of Maytag Freezer Ices Up

You have a plugged defrost drain. easiest way to fix it is unload freezer compartment defrost all of the ice, then remove the 2 screws that hold the rear cover in place about half way down the back wall. once this is removed use hot water to flush out the aluminum evap pan at the bottom of the coil. once it is cleared i will usually pur a little bleach in to kill any algae build up.\

be sure to unplug the refrig and use caution not to cut your self on the evap coil as the fins are very sharp..

Bottom of Maytag Freezer Ices Up

We had the same problem; soon your other side of the fridge will start to not cool as well. A circuit board had to be replaced per the Sears repair guy. Cost was about $270 but our icemaker doesn't work so well still. The ice cubes are hollow and it doesn't churn as well.
