Question about Pentax Optio M10 Digital Camera

I have a Pentax M20 camera. I love the camera but all of a sudden I find that when I turn the camera on, the camera almost instantly shuts off. I have new batteries in the camera. When the camera first starts up I can see "Green Mode" on the screen but it immediately shuts down. The camera is not allowing me to access any programming modes at all and certainly not allowing any picture taking. Until just a few days ago I have had absolutely no problems with this camera. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I am sorry you having that problem, and even more sorry I do not have a solution...On my Pentax Optio M10 batteries rechargeable or fresh alkaline only seem to last about 5-6 pictures before the camera deems them flat without charge and shuts off...it is so annoying I assume yours is possibly doing the same.
I suspect this to be a camera problem, I also notice the camera dos not recognize all rechargeable batteries some of them do not even get acknowledge.
If anyone gets a solution help us both....

Do you want to disable the green mode? Is that what you want to happen?

If so, all you have to do is to press the Green button near the four-way controller.

Try to press & hold down the Green button (the trash can button on the bottom right corner) & see if it gets u out of green mode.

Optio M20
Something is stopping the camera from starting. Possible lens damage. Also could be a connection inside the camera.
This may be a camera you would want to sell as a repair item or AS IS on Ebay or a site like that.

Found the following on a website about these cameras...

"The second, and previously mentioned automatic mode, is the Green mode that restricts the camera controls to two flash settings, three AF options, zoom, and a self-timer setting. This mode locks out the menu systems, manual focus, mode menus and other options. It’s definitely easy to use, as all one can really do is point and shoot."

This may be a internal software confusion problem. If it is, the following may help.
Make sure your buttons or dials are not on AUTOMATIC, that appears to set the green mode.
I think I would remove the batteries. Next, if the camera has a small battery (similar to the bios battery in computers) remove that as well. Let the camera sit over night. You will need enough time for the capacitors to discharge. Then put the batteries in again, and try.

Maybe.
But it does seem to be a lens problem. Possibly the lens is out of sync as mentioned in another post here.If there is a grinding, the lens is probably damaged by dirt or sand.
Make sure the batteries or battery is fully charged.

i got it!!! on my cam i hold down the menu button at the same time power on, it will showup a " ver 1.00" and lens move a little maybe u have to do it 2 times but second time it should work
