Firs check toner catridge or else problem with the theflon sheet in the fuser unit need to replace it.

Try to clean contacts with alcohol inside the printer (on the left side) check that they are not damaged/bend.

If it is an ink jet printer it only takes ink cartridges, toner cartridges are for laser printers.

Yes a new catridge can be the first option for the option for the fault but if after the new catridge is put in the fault is remaining then do a head cleaning before we can think of the laser jet.

If it is a laser jet printer, first remove the Catridge, and then remove the papers present in it. Pull it out slowly else it may tear and it may leave residue.
If it is a Deskjet printer, remove the paper from the pulling side, by swithing of the printer.

if you lift the top cover of the printer you can find the catridge coming by itself and stops at the center of the release area, so that you can remove the cateridge easily, but tell you are having inkjet or laser jet in laser jet the toner(catridge) will be in the front side if you pull that cover out you can get the toner outside
