Hi; Receiving Both Documents and Telephone Calls Automatically: Fax/Tel Mode If you set Fax/Tel mode, you can control precisely how the fax handles incoming calls by adjusting the following settings: ??? Adjust the time the fax takes to check whether a call is from a fax machine or a telephone (<RING START TIME> setting). ??? Adjust the length of time the fax rings when the call is a voice call (<TEL RING TIME> setting). ??? Set whether the fax switches to receive mode after the ring time set in <TEL RING TIME> has elapsed (<DEFAULT ACTION> setting). 1 Press [Menu]. 2 Use [{] or [}] to select <DATA REGSTRATION>, then press [Start/Copy]. The LCD displays <USER SETTINGS>. 3 Use [{] or [}] to select <RX SETTINGS>, then press [Start/Copy]. The LCD displays <ECM RX>. 4 Use [{] or [}] to select <FAX/TEL AUTO SW>, then press [Start/Copy]. The LCD displays <RING START TIME>. 5 Press [Start/Copy]. 6 Use the numeric buttons, or [{] or [}] to enter the time the fax waits before ringing when it receives a call, then press [Start/Copy] twice. 7 Use the numeric buttons, or [{] or [}] to enter the time the fax rings while waiting for someone to pick up the Handset, then press [Start/Copy] twice. The LCD displays <RECEIVE>. Note ??? If paper jams, see "Troubleshooting" on page 53. ??? If the Ink Lamp lights up faxes will be received to memory. 8SEC. 22SEC. Use [{] or [}] to select <RECEIVE> or <DISCONNECT>, then press [Start/Copy]. This setting tells the fax what to do if the Handset is not picked up within the specified ring time set in step 6. 9 Press [Stop]. Setting ends and the fax returns to standby mode.

There is too much noise on the line for a valid connection between two fax machines to complete. The noise problem might go away over time.
Solution
Retry the fax reception at a different time when telephone line conditions have improved. Call the telephone provider if line conditions fail to improve.

HELP ERROR 344 ON MY HP J4680 CANNOT SEND OR RECEIVE FAXES

Welcome to FixYa!

There are 4 reasons for Error 344 to occur when sending or receiving afax.
1. The remote machine failed to respond to a fax command from the local machinebecause the connection was interrupted. These errors can occur if the phonelines in the area to be faxed are old or there is noise (static on the phoneline). Other reasons can include power outages and other power-relatedproblems.

2. The call-waiting service can cause this error. The click, heard for anincoming call, is actually a momentary disconnect of the line.

3. The remote user pressed the Stop key while the reception was in progress.

4. Under rare conditions, incompatibility between the two machines might causethe remote machine to abandon the call.
Solution 1
Try to send a fax at a different time when telephone line conditions haveimproved.

Souliton 2
Try sending at a lower transmission speed.

Keep me posted and thank you for using FixYa!

I want to shut off answering machine

Use the Reception Mode button to set appropriate answering mode - press it repeatedly until a small arrow on the display will point to the desired option:

"TAD" - is the one you are using now, when the answering machine picks up the calls.

"TEL" - is the setting when no automatic pickup occurs, you always have to pick up the call and either talk (if there's a person on the other side), or press START to receive a fax (when you hear the fax beeps on the other side).

"FAX" - is the setting when after four rings the fax will pick the call up automatically (no answering machine). If you pick up the call manually after 1-2-3 rings (before the automatic pickup) you can either talk or START fax reception.

It's good to check from time to time if the reception mode is as you want it, it's easy to change it by mistake.

Good luck and come back with a testimonial if helped :)

Ricoh fax 120 please let me know how to put ricoh on automatic fax receiving while not in the office also when someone rings i can hear the fax sound from my ricoh

Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman";} - Follow the next instructions to change the reception mode :
1. Press the [F2] key. “ this key is located on the left side of the Control Panel next to the key [12] from the left side and next to the [Memory Trans.] key from the rigt side ”
2. Press the left arrow key to select the reception mode “ this key is located under the Display of the Control Panel”
3. Press the [OK] key when on the display is displayed the mode you want.
note:as you sad you want the machine to reaceive faxes when you are out of the office, so the reception mode [Auto Select] is the most compaible mode for you.
The machine can treat incoming fax
messages and telephone calls in three
ways.
1.Manual Receive
- Use this mode if your line is shared
by a fax machine and a telephone
but you wish to answer all calls
yourself and decide whether they
are fax documents or telephone
calls. You must manually press the
[Start] key to receive a fax.
The machine will ring continuously
until you answer the call, so you
have to be near the machine at all
times. The Manual Receive indicator
is lit when the machine is in this
mode.
2. Auto Receive
- Use this mode if you have a dedicated
fax line. The machine assumes
all calls are fax documents.
It will ring once to alert you of an
incoming call, and then starts receiving.
3. Auto Select
- In this mode, the machine rings a
number of times. You can answer
the call while the machine is ringing.
If you do not answer the call,
the machine automatically changes
to receive fax messages.

Sharp UX-B750 won't automatically answer calls.

Your reception mode is set to TEL/FAX or TEL mode, to set it to automatically receive faxes it should be set to FAX. Look at the LCD display ( right section ).

To change the reception mode you can print the HELP LIST by pressing COPY/HELP button.

Cannot recieve faxes, but will send them

No model number provided.
....but your problem is that you have switched off "automatic reception", and set it to "manual reception" somehow. Check your manual to find out how to set it.

Unable to receive faxes

I believe it is set to manual reception, meaning that you have to push start to get a fax. You should be able to go into the setup manual and select automatic reception. In this case the fax will answer automatically. You can test this by calling your fax number from another phone and observe it's behavior.
