Dryer will not start when start button is pressed, makes a buzzing noise

After using my dryer for two timed cycles. I went to restart it on 15min. and it wouldn't start and made a buzzing noise. I change the time, and it makes the buzzing noise on every one, and won't start. Please help!!! My dryer stopped during the automatic drying cycle (apparently after only a short time). The laundry was still damp. Now the start button just makes a loud buzzing noise and the dryer won't start. I tried the previous suggestion (for cosimofrank) of setting the timer, holding the door button and turning the drum clockwise but it didn't help.

Frigidaire Gallery model #FSG747GES, serial #XD70942315 - it's about 12 years old and I've never had a problem with it. Actually, this morning I got it to finish drying the laundry that was in it although, at first, the start button buzzed briefly then it worked. I noticed the cycle button didn't move much, if any, but the "cycle signal" buzzer went off so I knew the laundry was ready.

Hi,

Please power cycle the dryer and the turn the dial 90 degrees in the opposite direction of the the usual direction that you'd use to set a cycle. Then try to use the dryer again.

is the buzz more like a growl? if so, you probably have a bad motor. if it is truly a buzz, then try turing your timer to a different cycle. if the problem continues, replace the timer

My dryer makes a buzzing noise when I push the start button

My Hotpoint dryer is seven years old and did the exact same thing. When I got over the anger and the thought of spending 4 or 5 hundred dollars to replace it I started messing with it. I finally decided that since it buzzed when I tried to start it there was current there. The only other thing it could be was the drying cycle knob.
I held the start knob and let it buzz while I slowly turned the dryer cycle knob to the right. As I turned through each cycle it would hit "off" and the buzzing would stop and then resume as I moved past the "off " setting. On the third trip around the dryer "started" and has been working since. Maybe something got out of kilter. Apparently the problem was in the knob that controls the drying cycles.
