OEL Display not Working on my Pioneer DEH-P7800MP

Hello,
Today, the display on my DEH-P7800M stopped working. Everything else seems to work including all the lights behind the buttons to the left of the screen. It seems like no signal (or no power?) is going to the OEL screen. Any miracle workers out there?

    I have a similar problem. The display works as long as it is open ready for a disk. As soon as it closes the display goes away..Help

Do you take the faceplate off often? If so mayeb you could try wiping the metal contact plate on the unit b4 u put on the faceplate.

Worn out rubber button's
Hello, That`s not a big deal. I pruchased the part, and mounted it myself. Worked out fine. The only problem I have now, is that the OEL-display doesn`t work any more. That sucks big time....

there are lamps inside the face of this head unit that go bad sometime they are wired in series and therefore if one goes out none will work. they a very small lamps soldered to the circut board inside the face

Has it always been like this? I know that the display inverts automatically to save the life of the OEL...otherwise the brightness of the same pixels being on all the time will cause the OEL to 'burn-in' If that isn't the problem, the OEL is going bad. They can run about $100 and usually aren't worth repairing.
