12 flashs my canon printer is flashing 12 times how do I rectify the problem

Look for a paper jam or foreign object.

Are you using fine ink cartridges? Is your printer still working normally besides the flashing lights?

try unplugging it for a little bit and plugging it back in and see if this works.let me know if not then we will try something different.thank you for using fixya.

I believe that 7 amber flashes refer to a cartridge error. Check that the cartridge is seated correctly.

How many times it's blinking? If it related to paper jam problem means there is problem with sheet feeder unit or paper sensor. Please check below link for detail.

For 11 orange flashes (Canon doesn't list 12) Canon says its an automatic print head alignment error: -make sure ink tanks are snapped in correctly http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=SuprtKnowledgeBaseAct&fcategoryid=184&modelid=10438 -place 8.5 x 11 paper in the automatic sheet feeder, anything smaller will cause this error. -Remove the printer from strong light; apparently a sensor in the paper output slot can be affected. -Also you said you replaced all the cartridges with new ones, were the new from HP? If not I would definitely try replacing them all.
