The condenser coil is located underneath the refrigerator on most models. YOu can access it from the front, or in some cases, in the rear. To access it from the rear, after pulling it away from the wall, you will have to remove the machine compartment cover screws and the cover itself. If it is the type i believe it is, it is called a no-clean condenser, but they still need occasional cleaning. It will be a barrel shaped condenser on the right side of the machine compartment. A good refrigerator tip for anyone looking to clean the condenser is to make sure you turn the fridge off or unplug before cleaning it.
Assuming one is physically able, empties the fridge and unplugs it first, is it bad to lay the fridge on its back to better access and clean the coils on the GTS18FBSARWW (or any other similar vintage fridge)? There's no icemaker and therefore no water in the unit to leak.
Hi,
Many times a freezer and/or refrigerator do not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...there are also many other things that can go wrong.
If you are hearing a clicking or buzzing then check out the last two tips.
If your refrigerator is running but warm, then...
Check out these tips that I wrote about that... it is a great place to start trouble shooting your unit...and something that you can do rather then calling a repair person to do a simple thing for you...
