This is one of the hardest problems to solve. The first thing you can do is run a lens cleaner throught the machine. There is a distinct possiblility that there is a spec of dust on the lens. What I've done with a couple of machines I've come across is to perform a little bit of "percussive maintenance" by rapping the machine with your hand as it is trying to read the blank disk. Both times this has worked for me. This is unconventional advice, but works sometimes. Beyond that, the machine will need to be taken in for service.

Wont idetify blank disc and wont format

This unit is designed to work with DVD-R, DVD-RAM and other discs as listed in the manual. You don't need to format discs for them to work in this machine. Just put the blank disc in, and record something to it.

Use blank media with the words "audio" or "music" printed on them. It's in the manual.

Console is not reading disc-when inserted it says open tray, any ways to fix it please?

Hmmm....have you just bought this game/movie? if you have you might have a blank disc or to much film this film is added on disc and if theres too much on there it wont play it will act as there is nothing in your disc tray so if the film is the problem take windex and clean it real good then if it doesnt work you might have a blank disc this is very rare but it does happen ive had this happen on a movie and i see someone at gamestop occasionally who complains about a blank disc. hope this helps.

Wont record on blank pc disks!

I had the same problem and found that I was using the wrong type of CDs. If you look on the CD you have to use the CD that says Compact disc digital audio Recordable or Compact disc digital audio Rewrittable. After I used the Digital ones I could record on it. I then tried the CD on the PC and it worked. You can look on the top of the unit and see the information if you still have it. Hope this helps you.

My dvd burneer wont reconise dvd discs

This is correct, as there is no TOC on a blank disk there is nothing to read. it is your writing software that identifies blank media when inserted, so you may wish to check your software is appropriate for your requirements Cheers :D
