Question about Lenovo ThinkPad T43 Notebook PC
Traditionally with ThinkPads:
1. The BIOS password can be reset with the CMOS.
2. The Supervisor password cannot.
3. The HD password cannot.
If it's the harddrive that's locked you will have to replace that. If it's the Supervisor password you need to replace the system board which kind of defeats your purpose.

Sorry, there isn't a way to get past the password other than to contact Lenovo. Resetting the CMOS will do nothing. They will ask for proof of ownership before they do anything. I believe they have a "backdoor" password.

First thing is to check if the wireless device is working. Go to Control Panel - System - Hardware - Device Manager. Click on Network Adapters. Do you see the the Wireless card?
If not in Control Panel click on Network Connections, do you see a Wireless Connection? If not you need to install the correct wireless network driver, Check the IBM site again, there should be another wireless driver (there are a couple of different wireless card installed on T40 series ThinkPads).
If you succeed in installing the wireless driver and it is enabled.
Then click Control Panel - click on Network Connections - right click on the Wireless Networl Connection - Click on Properties and check if TCP/IP has been installed, if not install it. Check TCP/IP properties - make sure it is set to Obtain an address automatically and Obtain DNS Server address automatically.
Check the wireless settings on your other laptops, use this information to configure the wireless on the T43, ie the SSID, WEP or WAP settings
You should be able to connect to your wireless router and Internet now - let me know how it goes,

SOURCE: No sound from IBM ThinkPad T43
your driver is missing so the laptop doesn't see the sound hardware located on the laptop motherboard.
The audio could also be turned off in the bios also but missing the audio driver is usually the problem..
Go to their website listed below for support.
enter your model number and download and install the latest version of the audio drivers.
Their is instructions on that page for installing the drivers.
also you can download the Lenovo Systems ToolBox software and run that.
The software contains Diagnostics Tools just for IBM laptops.
Why windows dumps some of its drivers sometimes is a odd thing.

you boot up to the log in screen type in administrator as user to log
in if you cant log in
the boot up process you will see on the screen for a short amount of time press
a certain key to enter set up press and
hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS scroll down to set user
password or supervisor password you can change or remove your password from
most common way that we know on how to reset or clear the BIOS password is to
physically remove the power from the computer by disconnecting the power plug
and then removing the Cmos battery for 30 minutes from the motherboard. Another
way is to reset the clear CMOS jumper on the motherboard itself. Both of the 2
methods mentioned works because most motherboards use a battery to sustain the
BIOS/CMOS settings for the motherboards PROM chip. So by cutting off cmos the
battery power, the BIOS/CMOS settings will be erased. Hope this helps
