I put in a new toner cartridge for the MFC 7820 printer. It still says the toner life is over. I tried the reset with the Options *00 and I still get the message. I tried covering the glass holes on the side to trick the sensors with black tape - still saying toner life end. Any other ideas? The printer was working just fine yesterday.

SOURCE: how to get ride of Toner life end message

You could try resetting the toner cartridge settings. OPen the machines front door where you would replace the cartridges. On the top panel you will see a "clear/back" button. Press it and on the display you will see a reset menu come up. Arrow to each one and hit the OK button. Press "1" to reset. Once you have gone through all close the front door of the machine and press stop to bring the display back to normal.

Hope this helps.

If your cartridge has a lever on the left side near the rear, it needs to be reset, and there's a lever inside on the left that can stick and cause that error. You need to wiggle and pull that lever until it moves freely again.

SOURCE: Brother MFC 7820N Toner life end with new toner

I found the following post on another site. It appears to work. If you want to reset your Brother MFC 7820N machine so you no longer have the error message: Toner End of Life, do the following:

1. Open the front cover of the 7820N, that is, the cover that allows you to pull out the toner and drum, but don't pull out the drum/toner.
2. Push the button: Options (located on the left of the control pad).
3. Type: *00 on the keypad.

The Brother MFC 7820N should be reset and the Toner End of Life message should disappear. WARNING: This may void your warranty and ultimately damage your machine if you are reusing or refilling your cartridges, but you should already know that. Hope this helps.

For the brother mfc 7820N the toner life end pops up and i have tried the *00 to reset and it doesnt work. What do I do?

When the toner cartridge is exhausted or empty then theprinter will not be able to print further documents or the prints will be veryfaint. You may be able to print a few more pages by removing thetoner cartridge and shaking the toner cartridge in a horizontal position a fewtimes and then placing it back into the printer. This will give you an opportunity to print a few more pages and giveyou time to purchase a new toner cartridge for your printer. A cheaperalternative is to purchase a re-manufactured toner cartridge for your modelprinter.A re-manufactured printer cartridge also replaces worn partsas well as refilling with toner powder.

Toner life end, with fresh cartridges??

For Brother MFC-7340:
Open the toner cartridge door, press the "Clear/Back" button on the keypad, then on the number pad press *00 and close the cartridge door.
This worked for me.
For another Brother model the solution was to open the door, go to "Options" under the "Copy" menu, then press *00 and close the door.

Brother MFC 8860DN Toner End Life Error

Open the door where the toner goes. Press the 'back' button. Press *00. Do not respond to the query about the drum. Close the door. Other models may have to press the 'Options' button located near 'Copy'. This should work.

MFC 8460N giving Toner Life End message

I just solved my own problem. Try it for yours. I had been using several compatible toners for the MFC-8460N with no problems until today, as I posted earlier. On a hunch, I went to the local office supply store and purchased one original Brothers TN550 toner and put it into the printer and closed the cover. Everything clicked. Toner End Life message gone. I then took that Brother toner out and put the compatible one back in and still everything was fine. Am keeping the original Brother toner as a "kickstarter" if it happens again.
