Hello Friends, I have the same problem for sound, I have Dell Vostro A860 Laptop, I m using Windows XP sp 3, i have installed the sound driver, but still sound is not working, i download new driver from dell website R192899. While installing the driver, the error occure that "Could not find the MEDIA device for this driver". What i have to do Pl advice me. And i m faceing one more problem of scrolling mouse, my mouse pad is working but i m unable to do scroll. Requesting u to suggest me. Thanks

check your sound driver isnot installed properly. or either, you have to install HD driver first before your sound card is detected after which you install the specific sound driver.

How do you fix windows XP audio drivers for a Dell Vostro A860? I've downloaded the XP audio drivers but they do not work...
hello

Before you install the new driver you have to uninstall the previous version and then you have to restart your system.

If this don't work then these could be the reasons..
  1. The downloaded driver is corrupt of some file is missing,
  2. You have not downloaded the right version for your system.
try these things and hopefully they will work.

Connexant modem and audio drivers
You can download the drivers from Dell WEB site, the support download page. Make sure you select your model laptop, better still, type in the Service Tag number, it is printed on the label on the bottom of the laptop. This will open the page where the specific drivers for your model laptop are located. Also make sure you select the Windows XP version of the driver for the Windows XP operating system.

Hi Vostro owner.Dont worry,this can be sorted.Sound issue is not because u installed windows from a Non-dell cd.But i would ask to call up dell because they will provide u the XP disc that should have come with the system or even it is lost from you.Also then we can download the driver from support site : www.support.dell.com and install it.It is just a mere coincidence now.But the reason i'm asking to get cd from Dell is so that u can avoid any future problems with installing XP from a non-dell cd
