Question about Coleman Sport 1850 Generator
Check for low oil level. If level is OK, check low oil level sensor. Disconnect the wire to test.

SOURCE: how do i excite a coleman sport 1850 generator?
This unit is capacitor excited, simply pull the terminals from the capacitor and apply 12vdc to the the wires for about 1 second. Then plug capacitor back in reassemble and run generator and check voltages. If the rotor magnetism has been restored and everything else is good you should be producing power now.
There is an alternative way to excite back end but it is a little more dangerous. It involves starting the unit and then applying 12 vdc to either of the 120v outlets for less than a second. This is the best way but it is more dangerous because once the back end is excited the outlet will now be putting out 120 vac. So if you leave your 12 vdc source connected too long you will back feed that source with 120vac. What we've learned to do is to have 2 wires coming out of the outlets with the tips exposed then we take our wires with the 12 vdc source and just brush them quickly against the 2 wires coming out of the outlet.

SOURCE: want to remove the starter recoil from my powermate generator
I got one of these pieces of junk, and had same problem you described.
You will need to remove the end panel to get to the blower housing. You will have to thread the rope through the handle until you have enough slack to remove the rope from the handle. The end panel should now be free to remove entirely.
Find the 3 bolts that hold the blower housing on, and remove them. Once you get it off, make sure that the rope has a knot in it so it won't get retracted into the pulley recoil assembly. Take a screwdriver and push the rope back down into the pulley (that was my problem). Assembly is opposite of taking apart.

SOURCE: I have a coleman Generator 1850. It stalls when i
Hello, I would check the carb for being dirty inside. It sounds like the needle valve is dirty, or not adjusted correctly, or there is rust in the carburator and any of these can cause the fuel not to feed into the engine properly. A good cleaning of the carb and proper setting of the needle valves should clean it up. Also check the screen in the fuel tank on the fuel valve.
