Miele Novatronic W360

My Miele Novatronic W360 is not working. A few days ago we accidentally opened the compartment at the bottom left to clean during a wash - all the water from the wash gushed out on to the kitchen floor. Since then the machine has not been working.

The "check inlet" light and the "check drain light" keep on flashing. We have carried out all the instructions as per the Miele users guide - but the lights still continue to flash and the alarm sets off. When we try to run a program, the timer display shows three bars across and hence does not activate any wash programs. According to the manual, this indicates that the "Waterproof System has been activated"

Any suggestions as to hoe to solve this? Should I just call in the engineer from Miele? I am trying to avoid calling them out because of the high call out charge. I will appreciate any suggestions.

Thank you.

There is still water in the waterproof tray at the bottom of the machine and the float switch has activated. pull the machine out (if pipes allow) and tip the machine backwards to drain the water from the tray.

We had the same problem. Advice from Miele on phone was to leave machine to dry out, but had no effect WAP fault remained and advised engineer to call out. I have just tipped machine back, lots of water cam out of under machine and it works fine now with out needing to dry out, saves on the high call out fee, very good advice, thankyou

I had the same problem n a Miele machine. The control panel showed fault F138. - the water protection float had been activated. I followed the advice of tipping washing machine forward. Lots of water then ran out. When the water had been tipped out the machine worked absolutely fine, problem fixed.

You have activated the float switch in the base of the unit (WPS) due to the water leak. if you tip the unit forward with some towels in front this will drain out the water. try running again after. check the fluff filter in the future without the unit on

Followed these simple instructions. Worked immediately after leaning forward and letting water tip out. Just let it go on carpet and hoovered up with a carpet cleaner! Two jobs achieved in one go! Thank you so much. Cannot believe it is solved so easily. Very happy!

SOURCE: Miele WT 945 Washer Dryer - Spin not working + Water Inlet/Drain Light Flashes

Check your exit hose spigot, it may be clogged. This is if your filter is all clean. There should be air for passage in the standpipe behind. Your hose should not fit airtight into the standpipe and neither too deep into it. Snaking out your standpipe would be good too.

Your filter of the water inlet valve is accessible outside the machine; it is at the water entry point. Close your faucet & check this out; this gets clogged often.

Hope i am helpful...... Click on 'thanks for trying' if not helped, your prob will be back for someone else to solve.

Pete,
When I had this problem I went along the entire water inlet route and verified flow. Water flow entering the soap dispenser tray should be very robust & audible; if not, you have a flow restriction or low pressure, flashing red light or not.

I'm stating the obvious because I actually missed some filter elements the first time I tried. Disconnect inlet hose at plastic fitting on chassis and verify your flow there. Then look inside the inlet barb and use a small pair of channel lock or lineman's pliers to grasp the tab on the inverted "basket" and pull it straight out. These filters can be packed full of sand and small gravel inside--they were in my case.

Good luck,
Adam

SOURCE: Inlet blockage red light flashing

Try turning the machine on its side, undo the bottom and check that the polystyrene float (attached to a switch) is not somehow jammed. This float cuts off the water if the machine leaks internally, and produces the symptoms you describe. It's a really good machine so don't throw it away!!

If that still doesn't help then it might also be the motor brushes, which produce similar symptoms - if your machine starts to fill but then flashes and just drains again, it's almost certainly the brushes. This might be the case after you check the float problem.

Leak from Novatronic W310

Bit the bullet and stripped out the covers from the unit so as to observe where the leak was coming from. Ran m/c on a basic quick wash (be careful, exposed live electrical terminals!!!) and noticed that water came from the detergent drawer for a second or two.
Stripped out detergent drawer housing and found that the large discharge pipe underneath was very blocked with black/white residue. Presume that this had been dislodged from the walls of the pipework during the house move.Removed residue and reassembled unit & ran, OK.
Saved myself £100 call out. Give Miele their due though, the documentation suggests that if you habitually wash at a low temperature, which we do, you should occasionally run a 95degree wash. My wife was very surprised when I asked her if she did this.
