Yes this model ipod will definitely play all mp3s for you. It plays many types of audio files, but MP3 is definitely the main one.

Just check whether you can play the same movie on itunes and chk whether its playing fine on itunes??

If it works fine on itunes then try to manualy transfer the movie from itunes to ipod...

8GB ipod nano will not play songs
Try resynching your IPOD with Itunes on your computer then try to play again. If that does not work please respond and we can try another option. Also after you synch try the update option on Itunes as well that could fix any problems on the sofware side of your IPOD.
