If blank white, then the cable needs to be reset if dark then the lcd screen needs to be replaced. They are easy to change and run about 35 dollars for the whole assembly.
If it is white you may be able to fix it, black maybe not. The following instruction for a sidekick 3 but it is the same for a sidekick ID. Just reseat your lcd instead of installing a new one.
If your sidekick ID or Sidekick 3 screen is a blank white, then the lcd flex cable has come loose. It is a little difficult to repair but any one can do it. The worst that will happen if you try to repair yourself is that it will not work and you buy a replacement screen from ebay for 45 dollars.
Here are the detailed instructions. Just reinstall your lcd instead of putting a new one on.
