Try holding Fn + End with battery and power cord out and while still pressing Fn + End plug only power cable back in and try to power on.
Dell Diagnostic Beep Code Troubleshooting Chart Those beeps your computer emits at startup, yea, they mean something. If you're having difficulty figuring out why your Dell desktop, tower, or mini tower won't boot, take a look at this chart. Dell also has a diagnostics utility and can provide excellent technical support, sometimes. The numbers and hyphens mean exactly what's listed. For example, the sequence 1-1-2 means beep, beep, beep-beep. Some issues are caused by owner carelessness, others require hardware replacement. Had problem with mini 10 beeping 8 times. Tried another posters solution from a different forum by removing battery power cord and hold down Fn and End keys while plugging in only power cord which changed beep pattern from 8 short beeps to 1 long beep and 2 short. still did not fix problem so then i kept holding Fn + End with battery in while pressing power button and windows resumed with error message telling me that battery had reached critical level and was in some recovery mode. hope this helps

How on earth do I do that? I hope my memory isn't broke too!
Have same problem, System will boot if I connect external monitor. Will continue working fine when monitor disconnected but resorts to 8 beeps no boot if I shut down and reboot. Changed memory and mother board, same problem.
