Hi, if you don,t have a manual to refer to, take the number on your washing machine, this will indicate the model and make, and locate your helpline, the number should also be on your washing machine, either next to the door, or on the back or bottom front. i hope this helps

This is aself test procedure on the door locking mechanism . You will also hear a click, the drum will make a partial turn,and the door will unlock berore locking again. Once the door has locked a second time the washer will begin tumbling and adding water. The sensing process will continue until the correct amount of water is added to the load.

Whirlpool (Kenmore) 'F16, 18, 20, 21 and 22' all refer to 'control unit failure I'm afraid. Sounds like a service call is required, sorry ;-0(

Hi, F-22 means that the CCU /touch pad/LED assembly unable to transmit/receive
data to/from the CCU central control unit
Possible causes/procedure:
1. Check the touch-pad/LED assembly by selecting different
cycles and changing the modifiers and options available to
confirm the touch-pad/LED is responding.
2. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
3. Check wire harness connections to the
touch-pad/LED assembly and Central Control Unit (CCU).

Your model's tech sheet gives error codes and remedys.

F22 error code means that the door lock mechanism is not functioning and the wiring has probably come loose. Open the top (2 screws in back) and you'll probably find (as we have now 3 times) that the wires and door lock mechanism have come loose (no wonder with the vibrations of the spinning drum!). Plug it back in yourself and save the annoying repair bill! Make sure to unplug the washer before you attempt it...

non existent code. if under warranty call tech support. probably control board. can manually override door lock. by removing lower panel and pulling tab at bottom of lock mech.

F22 Error means
DOOR LOCK ERROR
after 6 failed attemts to lock the door.
Possible Causes/ Procedure 1.-*Door lock mechanism is broken or removed from door. 2.-Door  switch/ lock unit failure. Check door switch/ tock unit. 3.- Check the wire harness connection to the door switch / lock unit and Central Control Unit (CCU).
