My zire 72s refuses to recharge after becoming very low, though would still turn on.

The Zire72s won't recharge. I have waited until the screen prompted me to recharge but it still wont. The first advisor told me to remove the battery, but I don't know how and if I do won't I lose all my info on the Zire.

  • Anonymous Oct 12, 2010

Sure, but how do I open the Zire72s and find the battery? Will I lose all my data?

  • Anonymous Oct 12, 2010

My problem is that my Zire72s won't recharge. The screen advised me to recharge - but plugging it into the power doesn't sttart the recharge. Previous advisors have told me to take the battery out - but not how to do that. Also, if I do remove the battery will I lose all my data?

Thanks for help. However, how do I check whether the charger is working OK? How do I remove the battery? I don;t know anybody else with a Zire72s charger.

Have you tried from PC? i mean USB charging. because either your charger has gone faulty or the charging port in your zire 72s is faulty, that is common and may need replacement. confirm otherwise, use USB

  • Muzahura Frank Oct 12, 2010

you will not loose any data by taking out battery... but before that, have you tried with usb cable? otherwise, Just use a gentle touch, and don't try to force open any catches inside the case. you may need a Torx T5 screwdriver

There could be problem with the charger or with the handheld. (Do not keep powering it on on low battery as you may corrupt the firmware.)

  • Check if the charger is giving proper current.
  • Check if it fits the socket on the handheld properly.
  • Try a different charger (friends or someone else's).
  • If the charger is fine then its charging circuit may have gone. Due to a small bump/thud. These things are very delicate.

  • Rinoo Kumari Oct 12, 2010

Also, power it down and put it on charge for some time. It may start indicate charging after some time. Or you can even leave it to charge while powered on. But do give it some time.

Removing the battery in all these gadgets does not delete the data as it is written to the storage inside. So, rest assured about it.

HELLO,

The answer to this question is yes,

What you are to do to solve this problem is to allow the zire in power for some time it will come up to charge after some time please do not allow the battery to get very low before charging in other not to damage the battery.

But if after you have allow the zire in power for longer period and the problem remain then remove the battery if possible allow it from the zire system for few period then replace it again then plug it back to the power.

Please note, if the problem remain then it means that you will have to get your zire another new battery from the store around your local area or you should go online to order it.

Thank you and thanks for using fixya.

Palm zire 72 will not syn with pc running win 8.1

You find a fix to that problem, and the (Palm) world will beat a path to your door. HP, Palm's new owner, has attempted a fix for Win7, but Win8/8.1 may become the impossible hurdle.

Good luck!

My computer suddenly lost all the data for the palmone zire 72s. Can't figure out why. Don't want to sync in case it deletes all the data from the pda.

Hello.

First, install Desktop Manager on another computer and sync, just as a backup.

Then, before you sync on YOUR desktop, look for the option on the Desktop Manager to copy from the PDA to the desktop only, so you won't lose your data.

Then, after the sync, change the Desktop Manager back to 2-way sync.

Hope this helps.

Hope this helsp.

My PalmOne Zire 72S battery won't charge. How do I

I can't get the back off my 72s to replace the battery, any instructions would be appreciated. One source says there is a third screw in the wire mesh but I only found the 2 lower ones. Also, I can't find the Media Icon anywhere, therefore I can't use the camera or download pics. I even reloaded the software to no avail.

Palm Zire 71 handheld does not come on, did a hard reset, nothing

Confirm that both the cradle and the PDA ports are clean and free of dust or dirty.

Also, check your AC wall adapter to confirm that is working. The output should be +5.0 volts DC. Any repair shop has a multimeter need it to check it in no time.

If everything appears is OK, then confirm the PDA is properly placed in the cradle, and that the PDA is not loose on the cradle, indicating that the port contacts are not touching.

Best regards,

Zire 71 Camera

1) The camera is most likely broken- unless you are handy dont bother trying to use the camera

2) The booklet isn't all that useful but you can find a copy of it on Palm's website as a PDF file

3) It will turn off and a prompt will warn you of the low battery, but if you continue to turn it on it will "forget" everything in memory

I hope this helps and I hope you enjoy your Zire - it is a good PDA
