If you haven't used it for the last 8 months and before it was all fine then the most common reason would be the battery. Your battery is absolutely dead but then again if you plug it to AC then it must show some sign of life. But give it a go by replacing new battery. To check get it from a friend and then test the camera on it.
If the battery replacement doesn't work then take it to an authorized dealer for inspection.
plug in your charger and try to turn it on, if nothing then check the battery. Check the voltage on your battery with a meter. If voltage isn't present or lower than it says then try a new battery. If that doesn't work it will need professional repair.
If unused for any length of time, rechargeable batteries lose their ability to retain a charge. Try it with a brand new, fully-charged battery. FWIW, I recharge all my camera and flashgun batteries monthly.
