Will print test page. will scan pictures. but will not print anything from the computer

Hi,

Try the steps below

Go to Start / Run and type in "services.msc" without quotation marks, then press Enter or click OK.

(If you are using Windows Vista/Win 7, You need to click on START button and under search program and files - Enter the Services.msc and click the same program from Program list that appear )

In the window that opens (Services) look for "Print Spooler" on the right

Right-click "Print Spooler" and select "Properties".

Click on the "Recovery" tab and change all 3 drop-down boxes to "Restart The Service".

Make sure the 2 text boxes underneath say "1" in them.

Click Ok until you are back at the Services window, close it and you're good to go.

Go back into the properties of the "Print Spooler" tab and be sure to click Start to restart the Print Spooler service and it will restart the service immediately.

The Print spooler depends on the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service. Is this service disabled? Go to services.msc look for RPC. Check state: Automatic

Can't print to HP 2600n over network

The LaserJet 2600N has a built-in print server and can be connected to the local network (normal ethernet cable) directly. While printer sharing via Windows should work, I found it much more convenient to access it without the need of a hosting computer - you do not need to switch on the desktop PC for printing from the Laptop, for example, its also printing faster.

How to force delete print jobs Fortunately, there is a way to delete the hung print job without having to save all your work, close all your applications, and restart your computer. Here's how (note that this is intended for Windows XP systems, but a similar approach works on other systems - if this doesn't work for you reply below with your Operating System and version):
  • Browse to Start -> Run... and type in "NET STOP SPOOLER" (this will stop the print spooler service)
  • Browse to your windows\system32\spool\PRINTERS\ folder
  • You should see files there ending in .SPL and .SHD created around the time you tried to print - delete these files.
  • Browse to Start -> Run... and type in "NET START SPOOLER" (this will restart the print spooler service)
  • Double click the printer icon in the lower-right corner of your taskbar to examine your print job queue and browse to View -> Refresh.
Voila :) You should see that annoying hung print job finally disappear completely and you should now be able to resume printing without having to restart your computer.
