UMAX PowerLook 2100xl scanner termination

Only one termination should be powered in a SCSI chain. Generally, it should be the last device. It's been a long time since I've worked with SCSI, but I recall that scanners may be picky about where in a chain of multiple devices they are located; electrical noise on the SCSI data lines causes problems with the scanner electronics. I don't recall whether best results are found from locating it as the first device in line from the computer or the last device.

How do I connect my Umax Powerlook III to my max 10.6.8 os x?

This scanner is Fast SCSI . It was made in 2001. You will need a card in your Mac for a SCSI interface. The cost of the card and scsi cable, if your Mac will accept one, will probably exceed the cost of a newer, high performance scanner. Time to move on? (Umax were not the greatest scanners even when they were made. Umax was a cheaper brand with mediocre software. So how will you get the image into the Mac once you have a connection? Power PC (OS 9) Mac software will not run on OS X.)

I have recently acquired a U MAX PowerLook 2110 XL scanner. I want to attach it to my Dell Latitude D410 desktop computer because the connection does not fit any of my portals. Please advise. Elliot...

This scanner has a SCSI interface, its diferent from the USB and parallel interface. You will have to install a PCI SCSI card on your computer to connect it. The manufacturer of the scanner (www.umax.com) also sells this card, but you may also want to look around the web to find it.

Trying to connect Umax PL 2100XL (SCSI) to G4 - scanner not found

I just told someone else this solution...KILL the SCSI junk...I had nothing but trouble with it with my Mac....I got a Ratoc Firewire to UltraSCSI Converter...to solve the regular SCSI to ultra SCSI problem...I also bought an adapter....It works great...no need for a SCSI card...or a driver...you just plug directly into your firewire port! If anyone can help me with my TA adapter startup problem...I'll be thrilled! Carole
