I have just recently goting kingdom hearts birth by sleep and it will not work on my psp. my system software is 5.50 gen-d3. when i click on the umd icon to load game it takes me to a blank screen for 10 sec and then a message appaers saying.... the game could not be started (80020148).... so i go back and click on the psp tm update ver 6.20 which shows up just under the kingdom hearts umd icon. and a message appears saying....the system software of your psptm system is version 9.90. there is no need to update. So if anyone can help me out or make sence of my question please let me no what to do?????

upgrading/downgrading or installing CFW in PSP is a risky business. the rule of thumb is to know if you have hackable or unhackable motherboard. if you had 5.03 chickhen before, then most likely you have a PSP-3000 or PSP-2000 v3 which has unhackable motherboard. you should have just installed 5.03 Gen-C or CFW Enabler 3.70, or upgraded the OFW to 6.20 and installed 6.20 TN-E or 6.20 PRO-B. 5.50 Gen-D3 is for hackable motherboards like PSP-1000 or early versions of PSP-2000. you have bricked your PSP!!!

Sony's internet browser as well as newer games require the newest official firmware to work, as a way of stopping hacking and/or piracy. Your options are switch back to official firmware, or wait until someone in the homebrew community comes up with a fix.

Your PSP is got problem when your upgrade it to gen-d3. Kindly return it back to your previous software. There are so many consumers get the same problem with you.

I think the CFW is the problem try upgrading of the CFW and hack the psp again.

you will need to update your psp either via downloading it on the psp wirelessly or going to the sony site .. downloading the update there... putting it on ur update folder on ur mem card and updateing it that way... thay do this to stop hackers and people form bootlegging there games and stuff... sadly it's not working.....

there could be 2 problems

1. your game might not be downloaded properly ..or completely
2. Go to the recovery console on yr psp2000 (turn off psp press on R button & turn on your psp while pressing on the button) & change the driver to D33 driver. 

freezes when you load a game? it is natural if your trying to play a game that requires the latest CFW... to play the latest games you have to have atleast CFW Gen-D3

I assume you have a customized firmware version CFW of PSP. Your PSP probably set back into its original firmware version.

To check the firmware version of your PSP, go to the "SETTINGS" icon and scroll down to "System Settings" then press X. The profile information will be displayed, then scroll down to "System Information" then press X, there the System Software of your PSP will be displayed.

If the version displayed is version 4.01, "version 5.03", version 5.50 and etc. then it was in the original firmware version. You need to hack again your PSP.

If the version displayed is "5.03 GEN-C (full), 4.01 M33, 5.05 GEN-B (full), 5.50 GEN-D3 and etc. then it is a customized firmware. Then I suggest try reformatting your memory stick and copy again your games in the memory stick.
