Maytag machine not spinning

Hi, my maytag performa will not spin. Machine will empty water at start of spin cycle but no spinning happens at all. there has been a high pitch squeak at last stage of spin cycle but since the spin won't work this has stopped.
thanks

Machine will wash and rinse but when it comes time for spin cycle the drum will not spin. I've checked the belt, lild, water level.

    Hi,

My Maytag washer fills, washes; but fails to spin at all during the spin cycle. I removed the inner and out tubs for cleaning and the spindle spun just fine during a test run. After reassembling the the outer and inner tubs, the machine fails to spin again. I used to be able to 'give the tub' a push and it would spin. The motor operates in the spin cycle and the belt appears to be acceptable. One note: I have disassembled the bottom components of the machine and the 'needle bearing' is not a complete assembly. It is a 'washer' and the 'exposed needles' and another 'washer'. Could this bearing problem be the reason my machine fails to spin the clothes damp day. Thank you for you time and cooperation in this matter.

You have a stuck brake. My advice is leaving this one alone and lrt a tech. fix it.HINT:99% of this same problems your having I have fixed without replacing 1 part,so see if your repairman can do the same. This is a PERFORMA and is know way Maytags design.Except one thing ,the name on the front panel.

Maytag performa washer grinding noise

Sounds like the water pump is going out on it. The part runs about $80 and should only take about 45 minutes to install.

Performa washing machine not spinning

you will most probably find that the inside of the belt that runs on the pulley has been breaking away bit by bit and if the pulley stops where there is a bit missing it may not turn when the pulley starts to turn.
Just a thought as it has happened to me a few times
The odor is most probably burning rubber as the pulley spins on the belt

Maytag Performa - Loud Noises during Spin Cycle

This washer is JUNK!!!!!! We have the same washer (2 1/2 years old) and same problem. Tried to replace the bearing myself, no luck. So I called a repair man to come out and look at it. As soon as i told him the model number, they would'nt even come out. Very common problem for this washer. We are on our way to Sears to purchase a Kenmore.....GOOD LUCK

Whirring noise in spin cycle, 7 year old machine

Checking the pump woulb be the first step. The pump bearing get worn and begin to sqeal. If the pump is alright then the problem could be the spin bearing.
