Usually Indicates a video error has occurred and the BIOS cannot initialize the video screen to display any additional information.

This is usually caused by a problem with the video card, or the memory on the video card. It can also be a motherboard issue.

You could try removing the video card and re-seating it. Also you may try using a another power connector than the one you are using as one of them may have a problem. But it looks like a video problem. Check BIOS in case your settings changed and the onboard video (if present) is on. In certain Mainboard it could be a memory issue, reseat your RAM too.

Hope it helps.

Hi,

Thank you for sharing the beep code. It means that its a problem with the Video Card and Video Cards are usually buit-in to the Motherboard for laptops. The only way to fix it to replace the Motherboard in order to get the new Video Card. Hope I've helped you somehow.

Post beeps long short short on power up, no display, beep pattern repeats until power turned off. this is after installing this motherboard. Rams are KVR533D2n4/1G Kingston. Isthere somewhere I can find...

1long and 2 short is a video adapter failure, replace the video card and see if the problem goes away, unfortunately if the beeping continues with other video cards, then there a faul on the mainboard.

1 long and 2 short is very common and well known fault in both desktop and laptop computers.

I still did not find beep code that match your problem..

Anyways here are the common beep codes for your motherboard.. it might help you too.
1. No beep - no reaction, the mother board is dead, power supply problem, processor and or ram problem.
2. 1beep - board is working fine.
3. One long beep then it shuts down - cpu problem, your processor is not working or missing.
4. 1short beep - system boots normally
5. 2short beeps - CMOS setting error.
6. 1long 1short beep - dram error
7. 1long 2 short beep - video card or monitor not connected
8. 1long 3 short beep - keyboard error.
9. 1long 9short beep - ROM error
10. Long beep - memory card is missing or not connected
11. Short beep - power supply error
12 Four beeps - there is no fan detected on Fan1 or Fan2 header. make sure to attach or reset CMOS bios to factory setting.

Gateway c140 beeps

If you have an AMI bios (you can tell when you boot and the black screen has writing on it at startup - the bios type and version is the first thing at the top of the screen)
1 long and 3 short beeps indicates that the memory is not seated properly. You should check that it is secure on your motherboard. If it is seated securely, your memory is maybe faulty.
