Can I use cold water fill when installing this machine

The cold water solenoid valve went out. Be sure the cold water valve is turned wide open.

if you only want cold water for washing, just select cold wash in the program settings and turn off the hot water tap
so the settings you will be looking at are --like --
tub fill ---low water medium water or high water
water temp cold or hot
rinse hot or cold , wash setting --heavy , delicates , whites , woollens etc
may not be exactly worded like that but you get the idea
when ever you see wash temp or water temp , select-- cold

Please post the model number for your washer. It sounds like your hot water valve has failed and is not closing. Unplug your washer's power cord and turn the hot water spigot that comes out of the wall on. If you still get water filling your washing machine, it's definitely the washer's valve and you will need to install a new set (hot and cold valves are both part of the same assembly).

The Cold inlet for this machine is on the right side.. with a blue indicator ring on it. When I say Right this is looking at the machine from the back.. Left if looking at the machine from the front. in other words the inlet closest to the edge of the machine.

If you are able to pull the machine out from the wall a little.. Start the fill cycle with cold water reach behind the machine and feel the supply hoses. If the hose closest to the edge of the machine is warm.. you simply have the hoses hooked up wrong.

Turn off the water.. swap hoses.. and all should be well..

I doubt the blue colour ring was put on the wrong inlet.. but.. stranger things have happened.

The Hot inlet should be indicated with a red colour ring..

In most installs the hoses will cross over each other.. not unusal at all. Always use new hoses when installing a washer.

Clogged screen in fill valve on cold side. Remove hose from cold side on valve. Pull screen out. Wash under hot water, and re-install.

Might be a bad inlet valve. To confirm, swap the hot and cold hoses to your washer so that the cold water feeds the hot water connection and the hot water feeds the cold water connection. Turn off both hot and cold water faucets. Set the washer for a warm water wash. Turn on the cold water faucet, and check the flow. Then turn off the cold water faucet, and turn on the hot water faucet and check the flow. If the cold water flow fill slowly, then the problem is with the inlet valve.

It an easy part to obtain from an appliance supply house. To install disconnect the hoses to the back of the machine, and remove the back panel to get access to the valve. Should only take a couple of minutes to remove and install. Hope this helps you.

Washing machine is a hot and cold fill, but I only have a cold water supply You can use a Y Piece connector (external link 4Washerhelp spares) to connect the hot and cold fill hoses to a single cold water supply. The washing machine will then work OK. Simply screw the Y-Piece onto the tap, and then screw the hot and cold fill hoses to the Y-piece and connect the other end of the fill hoses to the washing machine. (You may be able to buy this part also from a DIY store like B&Q)

A - More often than not, this is a bad fill valve. Please see the filling section.
There's no cold water Some washing machines allow cold water to enter only during certain cycles. Others intermittently allow hot and cold to enter, to temper the temperature of the water. Consult your owner's manual if you are unsure about whether the machine is acting abnormally.

If you're sure the machine is not working the way it used to--or should--check the following.

• Is the cold water turned on? If not, turn it on.



• Is the washer getting hot water but no cold water? If so, check to see if the control panel settings are correct.



• Is there cold water coming through the proper hose? If not, check to see if the screen inside the water-inlet valve is clean. (The water-inlet valve is the device on the washing machine that the fill hoses are attached to.) If it's clean, you probably have a defective water-inlet valve. If so, you need to replace the valve.

The water fill valve - The water fill valve is a mechanical and electrical part, the coils on the valve need electricity to mechanically open the valve to allow the water to flow into the washer....myth....the washer pumps water into itself...no, it does not. The fill valve opens and the house water pressure pushes the water into the washing machine.
No cold water or no hot water - The fill valve has two coils, one for the hot water and one for the cold water. It is possible that one of the coils can fail and you loose that filling ability. If the cold water coil quits, the hot will still work and during warm fill you will get hot water only and during a cold fill you will get no water at all. If the hot coils quits, you will still have cold water fill, cold water only on a warm setting and no water on a hot fill setting. Some Maytag washers have a fuse in the fill valve circuit, if this fuse let go the washer will not fill. Fill valves can also from time to time stick open and not stop filling. If you have to shut off the fill valves to stop the water from filling in the washer, you have a bad fill valve and you will have to replace it.
