My Sony burner says "Child Lock" in the display and it won't function.

The L indicates that the child lock feature has been enabled. This ensures that the burners do not function while you clean the cook top and that a child can't turn on any burners.

The procedure depends on your cook top model. For some induction models, to toggle the child lock feature off, press the front right burner zone display and the booster function key (circle with a solid circle inside on the right of the selector zone) simultaneously. Then press the front right burner zone display again until the L disappears from the display.

For an electric ceramic cooktop DTCH808, to turn off the child lock completely, press the bottom right + in a circle and the - in a circle (in the center surrounded by 4 of the + in a circle areas) simultaneously and then release the keys. "L" - Page 7 Press and hold STOP/CLEAR until " L " appears on the display and a BEEP sound is heard. The CHILD LOCK is now set. The time will disappear on the display . To cancel CHILD LOCK press and hold STOP/CLEAR until " L " disappears. You will hear a BEEP when it's released. If any button is pressed, "L" will appear on the display Your oven has a safety feature that prevents accidental running of the oven. Once the child lock is set, you will be unable to use any functions and no cooking can take place. However your child can still open the oven door. Press STOP/CLEAR. Child Lock 7

The child lock function is activated and the buttons on the unit are locked. (You can operate the system by using the remote control.)
To cancel, hold down
(stop/square black button)
for more than 5 seconds until "UNLOCK" appears in the front panel display.

Maybe you press lock button, simply unlock it again try this one

If the previous user never used a child lock function, how do this now activated? Anyway, to reset this set, you have to know about the child lock code. There is some details about, how to unlock the child lock, its repair manual will have the procedure. Check this link. Press {Stop/reset} button 3 times to unlock the unit. Or un-plug it for a little while. To put the unit into child lock press the start button 3 times.
