Question about Porter Cable 371K Factory Reconditioned Compact Belt Sander

I have a Porter Cable Model 371 2.5" X 14" Belt Sander. I broke a belt, when I did it jammed and also broke a rubber sleeve that covers the Drive Wheel. I have yet to find this rubber sleeve in any part diagrams that I have looked at. Can you please tell me where I can find this item? Thanks Ray

Unfortunatly that sleeve is not available, you will need to purchase a whole new drive wheel. The Drive wheel is $9.66 from DeWalt Service Net. Porter Cable, Delta & DeWalt are all owned by Stanley Black & Decker, you can contact DeWalt Factory Service for all parts. 1-800-4-DeWalt You can order the parts on-line, over the phone or though a local service center. I have a Porter Cable 2'' A-2 belt sander and need
you can buy that gear from ereplacementparts.com you will need the type number off the tool to make sure you order the right one, they cost around 25.28 and for a type 2 the number is D839309

I need to replace a drive belt on a porter cable belt sander model 371 and am having difficulty putting the new one on.
I believe you push the front roller until it clicks, then slide old belt off. Then push to release lock

I have had the hardest time trying to find a belt for mine.

I've made do with a 3 x 24 without any turmoil

I have a Porter Cable 352VS Type 4 sander needs bearings.
You need special pullers for these, you will have to take it to a power tool repair shop.

Just stopped turning, motor still running though
I take it that the rear drum stopped turning and if so the drive belt or one if the pulleys could be your problem. I would be doubtful if the gears are stripped. Give me the model number and brand and I will find a schematic for you. If this is the Porter Cable sander. on the side with the black cover you will find 3 screws that you can remove, UNPLUG tool first and take a quick look to maybe find your problem. How do you replace the drive belt on a Porter Cable Belt Sander
There is a lever on the side at the front right near the roller that you can use to release the spring tension on that roller (moving it slightly to the rear).  Once the tension is released you can slip the sanding belt onto both rollers from the side.  Release the lever and the spring will put tension on the belt to hold it in place.  Use the knob on the left side to center the belt on the roller if it starts to slip sideways when in use.

try to rig the nozzle of a shop vac to the part where the bag would normally connect and run the sander simultaneously with vac for a few minutes and see if that helps
