Samsung HLN617w Distorted Picture

Hi: I have a Samsung HLN617W That works fine for about an hour and a half the picture looks like there are two pictures one in front of the other or a shadowy effect. After about ten minutes more it gets a plaid look to it. Then it changes to white pixels all over the screen. I shut it down and turn it right back on and it works fine for about 20-30 minutes and starts all over again. Can anybody help me with this problem I have had service guys tell me I need a new light engine or a new digital board .Also I have been told I need a new DMD board which I believe is part of the light engine. These guys have just made me confuse. HELP PLEASE

Although the digital board could be a suspect, i would lean more to the dmd board. the light engine is probably no longer available.

SAMSUNG HLN617W turns on, picture is perfect, then picture turns off after a couple minutes.. sound still works.. hear a noise that sounds like a fan starting up and shutting off. Picture will not turn on...

It's not the lamp, most of the time they suspected it and the fan gone to malfunction when encountered this kind of symptoms but the fault came from the color wheel. You have to replaced it to resolve the issue.

Picture distorts after it has been on for a few minutes

If your TV looks 3D, warped, or distorted it likely has a convergenge problem.
If however it just looks dull, washed out, redish, greenish, or blueish or if it looks like objects on the screen have halos the fluid in the lens has soured.
You can search google for parts or you can get the parts with repair instructions from sites such as www.TvRepairKits.com

Black and white screen...

The color wheel can cause a black and white picture but not the jumpy or negative look.
Those symptoms are usually caused by the DMD assy which drives the color wheel and is somewhat expensive, most of the time you can purchase the whole Light Engine which includes the DMD assy for the same price.
